SkraGath

Skra'gath, a named Voidcaller

Voidcallers are a type of voidwalker that look to be draped in old, rotting cloth.Template:Cite (note that the source of this description does not call them voidcallers, it just describes them and says it is a type of voidwalker.) Voidcallers are spell-casting voidwalkers. They carry over their draped shoulders two lanterns hanging from a glowing crystal-like structure that strongly resembles parts of a naaru. Their specific relationship with these celestial beings is unclear, although the naaru are known to be somehow linked to the Void through a life-and-death cycle.

This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

When a naaru dies, the light within it slowly bleeds away, leaving void energies in their place. These void energies draw in the souls of the living and turn them into creatures of the Void. The dying naaru is unable to prevent this, and this event appears to be a necessary part of the naaru life cycle. It has been said that "without the void, the Light cannot exist".

It may be that voidcallers are thus born from dying naaru. Voidcallers have been seen in Outland nearby the darkened naaru K'ure, and the crystalline constellation over their backs hint at a connection with the dying celestial creature. According to K'ure, a naaru's body turns from pure light into a vortex of dark energies when it dies, from where these voidcallers could possibly arise.

It is also possible that voidcallers are voidwalkers that have obtained these crystalline structures by feeding off the void energies of the dying naaru to empower themselves.
