## Mistaken shortcut? Edit

WoWWiki:Wikiquette diff puts the WW:ADDON shortcut on the WoWWiki:Wikiquette page. Is this a mistake? -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 1:14 PM PST 1 Jan 2008

Yup :) Fixed, thanks 21:18, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

## "that" one Edit

In response to your inquiry, yes, that Hojimachong and I are one and the same. May I ask if I know you from there, or are you merely an observer of the chaos? --Hojimachongtalk 06:58, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

## Happy Now? Edit

No, I distinctly recall using the plural form of the proper noun. You are failure.-- Normal 01:26, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Just copy the pic and spam it in a gallery.-- 20:35, 9 January 2008 (EST)
That's even worse. Cheap pale imitations. -- Normal 07:40, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

The correct term is "you are A failure".   Mr.X8 01:58, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

No. When people ask me to define 'failure', I merely say 'Kirkburn'. Thus the usage of 'a' is wrong. -- Normal 07:40, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Kirkburn a failure? Without Kirkburn, this would be as plain as Wikipidia. Secondly,he is an admin, if he was a failure, he wouldnt have got the oppertunity to become one. Airiph/T/C/B 21:26, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

## Bad pages at the Wikia Wikis Edit

Please get someone to delete the bad pages I listed here. These pages are found in the Wikia Wikis.

User talk:69.234.144.73

That talkpage is in the Transformers Wiki, Starcraft and CNC Wiki. On the Transformers Wiki it has more threats than Assaultheads talkpage.

User talk:Sideways

Angela forgot to delete that talkpage and deleted the Userpage instead. That page has alot of Flame Wars on it.

User talk:Soldier 79

It is still there in the Transformers Wiki.

User talk:Anti-Spammer

I can still see that bad page in the Starcraft Wiki but PsiSeveredHead is not doing his job by protecting pages rather than deleting that talkpage.

User talk:Optimus the F22

I saw alot of flame wars on the talkpage and it is found in the Transformers Wiki and the CNC Wiki.

I can still find that offensive page in the Halopedia, Transformers Wiki, South Park Wiki and almost all of the Wikia Wikis.

I tried getting the admins to do so but they missed a spot so can some cross wiki admin delete what I listed here?(SmashingPumpkins1 08:14, 11 January 2008 (UTC))

== $tag doesn't work on WoWWiki == Try to type the example from help page:
[itex]\sum_{n=0}^\infty \frac{x^n}{n!}$
</pre> No formula is rendered, it just displays this source.
Could someone fix this.

EDIT: I think I found the problem. http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Displaying_a_formula

It appears that you need to set
\$wgUseTeX = true;
in LocalSettings.php.

Come on, it's easy and I have loads formula to make. TAP3AH 20:57, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, we don't have it atm. Perhaps at some point in the future though. It's under the delayed list on WW:SR. 20:55, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

## Vids Edit

Do you know how I can put youtube videos here?Or do you know somebody who does? Thanks!(I feel like putting music videos, changing it like once a weak or something) Airiph/T/C/B 03:16, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

No...can I put for example a music video or something on my userpage?If so,how Airiph/T/C/B 21:42, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Sure ... see videos :P Look at the source, that's how to do it! 22:46, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

## poke Edit

[1] News to me. (You were asleep when this got linked on IRC. Figured you should see it too) --k_d3 05:59, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

"Resolved" for a given value of resolved :) 21:02, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi there.

I just received a message from you about adding links and that the problem is that my site has gold ads. Basically, I really don't want these gold ads, but I don't know how to get rid of them :-( I see that WoWWiki.com also uses Google Ads. How do you avoid the gold ads?

I would really appreciate a response.

Thank you.

-- Morten Helles 18:42, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

You should be able to put blocks on certain words or websites. I do not personally control it, but that is what I've heard. There is also the problem that many of your links go to extremely short pages - linking to well-formed guides is good, but if it doesn't add to whatever is already on the page, it's not suitable. 18:58, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
As far as I can see, I can only block specific URLs. Which I do as I discover them. I have now also added a URL underneath the ads so that users can report any RMT ads that they discover. I am sorry about violating your policy, but I really wasn't aware of it until now. I will instantly remove all links to "short pages". -- Morten Helles 18:42, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! 19:26, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

## Oh, shut up Edit

You've got a 16 month head start on me.[2][3] Considering a rate of 2k deletions per 7 weeks, I'll have caught you in about 7-9 months, which will have me at a total of 9-11 months as opposed to your almost-2-years. Bring it! --Sky (t | c | w) 08:02, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

## WatchdogEdit

Oh yay, people actually recognize me around here :P. Anyway, now I think about it... being a watchdog does look like it could be pretty useful. If you allow me to join, then that would be great :) AMBER(RΘCK) 15:39, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Maybe it's mentioned somewhere, but I couldn't find it. Is the disappearing + in urls caused by the server upgrade you spoke of on the Village Pump? Yesterday Claws of Attack +3 was working, but today the + keeps disappearing. Pratt 20:57, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

I found that adding the "index.php?title=" part allows me to reach the pages with a + in it (by using %2B). Pratt 22:30, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

## Zomg, I was botted Edit

So I made this bot account in hopes of maybe mass-editing the stuff I've already been mass-editing manually. Mind tagging it for me? --Vargbot 23:36, 3 March 2008 (UTC) (Varghedin)

Done! 16:51, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Thankee! Now to learn how to use this thing :) --User:Varghedin/Sig 16:00, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

## How is the test server going? Edit

I added some stuff to User:Kirkburn/Problems, but the test server seems to be pretty far from goodness, at the moment. Also, is anyone looking at the "+"-problem? -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 11:29 AM PST 4 Mar 2008

The new version looks tons better. Very close... I'd like to see how the forums work with it, though. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 10:48 AM PST 6 Mar 2008

## The knave of hearts, he stole some tarts (and CSS) Edit

Would you, or the community in general, mind if I stole WoWWiki's monobook CSS -- with some modifications to hide the fact that I have done so -- for use on my personal website wiki? Color scheme and possibly the background (although I may make my own), not the logo. // Montag (talk · contr) 18:13, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Absolutely fine. We're about to move off it anyway ;) 20:46, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Does it break that whole 'admins are not leaders, gods, or staff, of the wiki' spirit? Or did you just not like the movie?-- 20:13, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
The former. I have not, sadly, seen the latter. 20:27, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

## The Golden Kobold Edit

The Golden Kobold Ose has awarded Kirkburn with the Golden Kobold, for his/her work here at WoWWiki!
Aww, cute! Thanks :) 20:27, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

## AlsoSee and sons Edit

## Vandalism Edit

Wtf, Kirkburn, I thought your user page, and so were ours, protected against vandalism?--K ) (talk) 08:27, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism perhabs, but not against a selfcentred kid with serious issues...Isn't that angela-hater annoying enough already to give him a ban from the net by law?--Maibe 11:34, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
I wish. He's a Wikia-wide troll ... if you see him around, do not hesitate to try and contact an admin, either via talk pages or via IRC (#wowwiki and #wikia channels should both work). 11:57, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
I shall...believe me, I shall...What's his problem anyway?--Maibe 18:48, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
His problem is that (from what I'm guessing - due to his attacks and naming) that he was banned by angel, and now he feels that because of that he can "try" to destroy all wikis.... Basically he has no life. User:Coobra/Sig3 21:27, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey, I had once heard of a addon that allowed you to open up a small window within WoW while playing and search wowwiki for quest help, etc. Just making it easier so you're not alt-tab'n out all the time. You wouldn't happen to know the name of this addon would you? Hooper 17:22, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

You should try asking on the Warcraft pump page. It's better to ask and have several people that might know, than to ask individuals. User:Coobra/Sig3 20:14, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Sounds like PLAYXPERT, linked on User talk:Hooper. 11:32, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
From some quick research, this is not an AddOn, is not available to the general public yet, and is Windows-only. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 5:01 PM PST 26 Mar 2008

Yep, it's working now. Thankyou. User:Coobra/Sig3 20:57, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

My apologies that it occured. Hopefully never again! 21:20, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

## Skin problems (not dermatological) Edit

Do you want skin issues to just be listed here?

Some things I've noticed:

• On Monaco gaming:
• The darktable class is messed up (white text on light background). This is a big problem.
• Common items using the {{item}} or {{loot}} templates show up as black text on dark blue background:  [Linen Cloth], [Linen Cloth]
• The Quartz skins show a page and then go blank when previewed.

-- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 4:47 PM PST 26 Mar 2008

Here is fine :) The showing of monobook CSS instead of wowwiki CSS is known - hopefully will be fixable (shouldn't affect the wownaco skin though). I'll take a look at the others. 12:33, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
I made a skin test page with links at the top which allow previewing the page with all the currently available skins in preferences: User:Fandyllic/Skinbox
Check it out. You can put stuff on there to test. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 5:00 PM PST 28 Mar 2008
Useful! I've seen Monaco Dark (essentially our skin) in action, and it looks pretty good. Still a work in progress, got a low res preview here - http://picasaweb.google.com/Kirkburn/MonacoDark/photo?authkey=Jwju3cAEFLo#5182823793563222066 ... looks better in person, but very recognisably WoWWiki. 11:52, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

## Admins deleting without reason Edit

You seem to have some authority on IRC, so please tell folks not to delete pages without giving a reason or making sure any links broken by the deletion are fixed or redirected. I don't want us to get like Wikipedia where some admins are basically rogue entities. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 10:48 AM PST 28 Mar 2008

Shall do! 18:53, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Kirkburn, can you change the linds back so they are blue instead of red after this 24 hour April Fool's joke thing? It is starting to annoy me because I look at the link and I am still getting confused if the page exists or not, even if I know it is supposed to be a joke. I actually applaud how the admins switched the pages. It reminds me of the constant bitter argument that WoW and GW players have all the time about the similarity of their games, ;). -- Fishdert 16:10, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Quick way to fix is to simply load the wownaco theme (see above). It's cool, you can help by telling if you stumble across any bugs, and the links are correct . --OseTalkz / Contribz 16:22, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

## Monaco skin preview Edit

Testing the skin, and bugs
Setting up
1. Go to Special:Mypage/monaco.css
2. Type in @import "http://www.wowwiki.com/index.php?title=User:Kirkburn/monaco.css&action=raw&ctype=text/css&templates=expand";`
3. Go to Special:Preferences, choose Monaco Sapphire (this is the base skin for custom skins).
(Note that "see custom skins" will need to be ticked when the skin goes live)
4. Do a complete refresh.

You should now see a preview of Monaco Charcoal with wowwiki tweaks. Monaco Charcoal is not final, and the wowwiki.css file's changes need to be merged properly, so do not take this as a final appearance.

Known issues
• Skin images are missing, including the Wikia logo, the "More" link background, the search box icon and the hatched line background.
• Certain wowwiki.css changes aren't showing, due to not being merged into the new skin.
• TOC links have a dark blue hue.
• "External" link have a slightly altered colour. Probably won't change this as easier to differentiate? Tweaked, still slightly different to before
• code and pre colour bugs in IE
• TOCs are missing [hide], known monaco bug.
• TOCs have a slightly larger font. May or may not deal with.

If you find issues with any areas being unskinned or unreadable, please let me know. Design feedback is also appreciated, and will be passed on.

Note: I will update my CSS with changes over the next few days as bugs are fixed, designs are tweaked. Also, remember you will have to delete your skin stuff once the skin is live - which should be next week.

### pcj Edit

As requested:

1. Wikia logo and "more" preferences options pull-down buttons are too dark for the background.
2. Site text feels too bright of a white.
3. Toolbox borders are too thick and the site in general needs color.
4. Bareness at the bottom of certain pages, like Special:Recentchanges.

--Pcj (TC) 01:14, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

1. is due to images being missing, 2. and 3. I'll look into, 4. is due to WoWWiki not currently using certain Wikia stuff. It will be turned on in the very near future. 01:19, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Okay, temp fixed missing images, and cleaned up the CSS. 13:40, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
More fixes, darkened content text to be same as old skin (FFF->EEE). 14:47, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

### DuTempete Edit

Needs moar yellow. Definitely:

• arrows in the sidebar navbox
• titles of the widget boxes
• text on the namespace and discussion tabs
• Xs in the widgets (close window button)

Maybe:

• Text or hr on the h1 (title of the article)

Will try to think up more. -- DuTempete talk | contr 19:58, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

There should be a bit more spice to the skin now that some more stuff has been activated.
Not sure how to do the arrows in the sidebar, can't find the CSS for it! Widget box titles, will try that out. Text on the tabs, not so sure, since I don't want it to look "weird". The icons in the widgets are, unfortunately, images. 22:34, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Here are some screenshots of stuff I did:

- DuTempete talk | contr 21:24, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

### Sky2042 Edit

Text of the ToC is different than previously. It's either larger, or it's a different font. Also, from IRC: "why is there so much space between {{patchbox}} and the title-line?" --Sky (t · c · w) 00:10, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

<pre> is behaving differently than before.[4] Previously, the pre-box would end when it ran into floating items. This is on Firefox 2.0.0.13. --Sky (t · c · w) 05:25, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Customizing the Special:Mypage/Monaco-toolbox and changing "Special:Whatlinkshere|What links here" to something else (ie, Special:Whatlinkshere|WLH) makes it so that Monaco-mediawiki does not assume that you are referring to the page you are on. Documentation on ensuring correct usage of this at w:c:inside:Monaco Skin Customization needs to be updated. --Sky (t · c · w) 06:54, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

I have no idea why {{patchbox}} has that extra space. Fixed the customization guide. 16:11, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Fixed pre. Also made the border yellow, since we have too much blue :P 22:56, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Fix the extra whitespace that came out of nowhere. I find two examples: Template:Title and User:Sky2042/editcount. It may be what you cited (too small), but I don't think so... There are no other similarities between the two. :/ --Sky (t · c · w) 22:20, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Apart from the resulting pages being the exact same length? 22:28, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

### Bug reports Edit

Add bug reports below, or create a new section if you have several :) 22:34, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Special:Contributions is broken if a user just recently made an edit... div class="mw-lang-warn-normal" sets the background color to be very light yellow, with the normal almost-white foreground text. --k_d3 23:55, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
It should already be fixed. 04:28, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Okay, should now take the designs of User:Kirkburn/Dev2. 04:47, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
When trying to edit a guild webpage it keeps tripping the spam filter and makes it so its unable to be updated, is there a way to get around this spam filter or are these just SOL because they of the web hosting service they make their guild with? --Bloodangels of Shattered Halls US 17:23, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

## Reasoning for "+" Edit

For admins (and admins alone), on smaller resolutions causes odd floats on the page_bar. I personally prefer + (damn minimalists), as the information needed to show that you should leave a comment is there on mouseover. Forget not that the icon can also be clicked on to leave a comment. Which, leads me to believe it should still be a +. I'll settle for "Comment", however. --Sky (t · c · w) 23:55, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

The icon isn't clickable. 23:56, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, do you think the article box should have a min-width then? 23:56, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
The icons not clickable. o_O. I could swear it was (on FF. I confirm unclickable on IE). As for min width, no. It's an administrator issue, which means its confined to 20 some-odd people, and forcing a min width makes even lower resolutions (iPhones and what not) have bigger issues. Again, not gonna' kill me to settle for "Comment" :). --Sky (t · c · w) 00:01, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, but I want everyone to be happy! :P 00:06, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Gonna need to change a little bit more if you want everyone to be happy... and then, someone will not be happy for the way you changed it. --Sky (t · c · w) 00:35, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Well, partly happy then. And get back on IRC. 00:36, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

## Case-Sensitive Search Edit

The Search function seems to be case-sensitive. For example, searching on "hinterlands quests" gives no results, even though the first likely match on the list is "Hinterlands quests."

Likewise, "Desolace Quests" doesn't produce a match... because the Q in "quests" is capitalized. Hopefully this is a minor setting tweak?

-- Calybos 21:38, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

## Preferences bug Edit

Hello. It seems there is a bug with the signature input field in the preferences (or sth. like that). I just wanted to test out the new Monaco skin. Now, when i try to submit, it will not change the settings, because it somehow recognizes my signature field as a nickname field (which is wierd, as there is no nickname field usually) and says it's too long. Obviously, with the raw signature, the field is quite large in my case. I uploaded you a picture to show what i mean.[5] Thanks in advance. Tws 11:33, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Nickname and signature are equivalent in this case. I've altered the error message. See WW:SIG for workarounds :) 13:07, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Woot, template substitution in signatures? On wikipedia they would lynch me for that. Thanks for the info. ·  · 16:30, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
So long as you don't go crazy changing it every day ;) 16:36, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Actually, the relevant guideline on Wikipedia states explicitly that templating and/or adding images to your sig is not allowed for reasons which make a lot of sense.[1][2] Maybe it would be wise to change what we allow in signatures... Essentially, I agree with all the reasons listed, and I think it would be a boon for WoWWiki to follow them also, as we suggest on WW:SIG. :x --Sky (t · c · w) 20:43, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

## New skin... Edit

One thing i've noticed with the new skin: It breaks my view on my phone. I've got a PDA phone, and the old them reshaped very well. Everything was readable just fine. The new skin screws stuff up. I read wowwiki on my phone while on WoW on the computer so I don't have to alt-tab, it kinda makes it hard. Is there any way the devs can try to make a phone friendlier version?

Other than that, I don't like the new skin much on a computer either. But thats just me. -- Corvincorvae 17:24, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

If you're able to log in to the site on your phone, you should be able to set your skin to "wowwiki" or "monobook" or one of the other simpler skins. 17:58, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

## Sig loving Edit

Since I know how much you love my sig when used several times in a row, I thought I give you a wall of them. =P
If you stare at it long enough you might see a hidden image.
Feel free to delete it, if it gets in your way.

Oh noes, snakes on the wiki. User:Coobra/Sig3 22:39, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Hiya, just a friendly heads-up that I have fixed the voting box on Talk:Blood elf NPCs, since you were the nominator a very long time ago, and may wish to add comments, or change your position on it. --Murph (talk · contr) 05:48, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

## Vandalism Edit

I'm unsure as to the proper procedure for this, but http://www.wowwiki.com/Special:Contributions/Fuck_Angela_Beesley_and_her_big_british_fuck seems to be doing some vandalism- moving pages around, calling everyone Sith lords and the like, lol. Evanfardreamer 09:52, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Reverted, thanks :) 10:55, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Heyas, having issues loading specific pages with this new default skin. In particular http://www.wowwiki.com/US_realm_list_by_datacenter

The tables with the server IPs don't show up. I know they're coded properly as I can view them from my home computer running Firefox, however running from IE6, all I see are huge gray blank areas where I know the tables should be. To find a specific server's IP I have to View Source, then do a search for the specific server I need...

This is doable, however I like being able to easily see which server is in which Battlegroup in which Data Centre.

Is this something you guys can fix, or is it something with my machine? -- Resa1983 14:34, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

From what I could tell from screenshots on browsershots.org it may be related to slow JS in the Monaco menu. Try disabling JavaScript and see if that helps. --Pcj (TC) 15:19, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

## Skin problems Edit

I switched to the new Wikia Monaco skin today and have found a few problems with it. When an image is a thumb, the background of the little image frame is black like the text labeling it, so it can not be read unless highlighted. Galleries are also huge and ugly white blocks.-- 00:26, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

OS/browser? 21:21, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

I use Internet Explorer.-- 21:24, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Which? 6 or 7? 21:26, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Nevermind, fixed :) 21:30, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
The Thumbs are fine, but galleries are still big white blocks. Is that possible to fix?-- 20:09, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

## Speedy Deletion? Edit

This site http://www.wowwiki.com/Server:Exodar_US/Rare_Crafting_Guide has Speedy Deletion notices pasted all over it. I dont understand why or what we can do to get our server page back and looking right.

thx -- Baldylox 21:01, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Looks okay now. Someone briefly marked one of the templates for delete. 21:21, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
That was me. The template was {{delete}}-tagged, and the talk said it was unused (which turned out to be untrue). Therefore I gave it an {{speedydelete}}-tag. Can't we trust anyone nowadays? --OseTalkz / Contribz 23:10, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

## Happy Birthday! Edit

I find it very amusing that our birthdays are only one day apart... mine is today, yours is tomorrow! Happy early birthday, since I probably won't be online to wish you it tomorrow. --Jiyambi t || c 17:07, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

## username change - bug or feature? Edit

Will I get my old username back? I presume this was forced by user db merge, but I am WCFrancis, aka Bothard of Guilds of Light on Sentinels. -- WoWWiki-WCFrancis 16:09, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Further on this: I did find User:WCFrancis on Halopedia and FFXIclopedia. Both had full name listed as William C. Francis (which is mine) and neither had any entries at all made through that account. Could these be spurious accounts created by the merge? -- WoWWiki-WCFrancis 16:34, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Doubtful. Post WoWWiki talk:Upgrade early 2008 and we can take a look at the account. 22:46, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
