Welcome .... admin!

Blah blah blah, congratulations ;) I already did it on IRC, is that not enough? :) -- Kirkburn (talk) 18:33, 21 December 2006 (EST)

What can I say, thanks a lot hehe :-p I'll do my best :) --Adys 04:39, 22 December 2006 (EST)

I increased User:POOPSTER's ban time to a year - he was a banned once before, and it was evident that it was all he was here to do. :) -- Kirkburn (talk) 20:02, 25 December 2006 (EST)

The Leeroy and Leeroy video sections already had built in disambig, so really no reason to create a 3rd uneeded page, imo. Unless you think otherwise?Baggins 14:28, 26 December 2006 (EST)

Uhm I didn't create any page :P What do you exactly mean? --Adys 14:30, 26 December 2006 (EST)
Ya I notice you didn't move the Leeroy Jenkins lore page to (tcg), and make the disambig. I just noticed you were removaing certain aspects of the move, through speedy delete. So I just wanted to make sure it was ok with you that I moved all the stuff back to how it was, since there really is no reason for a disambig for something so minor.--Baggins 14:34, 26 December 2006 (EST)
Yeah it's not a problem anyways. Don't see where it is hehe. --Adys 14:37, 26 December 2006 (EST)

Well, the warcraft RPG mentions a few more arthropod species other than beetles, scorpions, and other insect types. I'm not sure where to categorize such things as centipedes or praying mantis, or even wow's cockroaches. Insects work for some, but obviously not things like centipedes. I suppose we could use arthropod?Baggins

Very honestly I'm not a big fond of lore so I leave you up the details, I just wanted to categorize the category :) --Adys (talk · contr) 20:43, 3 January 2007 (EST)

Kirkburn pointed out that now we have Template:Bc/content, you can inline BC content w/o catting the page.--Hobinheim (talk · contr) 15:40, 4 January 2007 (EST)

Hello ! Sorry to flood your User page. I've just realized that you were French (and what's more, admin). How on Earth could I have been unaware of THAT ? Anyway. Have you got something like an MSN address ? Would be much easier (I don't like IRC and I've been told many times not to chat in French here).--K ) (talk) 11:55, 6 January 2007 (EST)

First time I tried adding BC loot. Having an issue with the Item Boilerplate where a socket bonus is a spell effect. Please see Scale Leggings of the Skirmisher. Any ideas? --Dracomage 09:52, 1 February 2007 (EST)

Ill try and make a new effect template for socketbonuses, meanwhile you can just use plaintext. Thanks for pointing it out tho :) --Adys 12:26, 1 February 2007 (EST)

Thanks for modding ;)

Hey Adys, just wanted to thank you for taking the time to moderate my guild page ;) I was very unfamiliar with the wowwiki community until the Kargath server started using our wiki page more. Although you've only edited the Shadow Wrath guild page twice, your adding of the speedydelete tag and later the guild tag prompted me to look up proper wiki policy and whatnot to get my page in line, keep up the good work ;) - Duiwel

No worries. Sorry for the SD tag, very often we get a guild article which contains just an url and when lucky the name of one or two officers, and they tend to annoy me really quickly. Cool page, btw :) --Adys 03:14, 11 February 2007 (EST)

Ultrasafe Transporter: Toshley's Station

Not sure why you moved Ultrasafe Transporter: Toshley's Station to Ultrasafe Transporter - Toshley's Station, cause that is the way the item is spelled on Thottbot and Wowhead. --Voidvector 07:45, 11 February 2007 (EST)

Argh, sorry, you're correct, the spell is named otherwise. I'll move it back. --Adys 12:29, 11 February 2007 (EST)

Thanks again Adys,

That guy was getting on my nerves... the one downside of Wowwiki is our illustrious forum trolls now have a new way to annoy the hell out of the rest of us :/ -- Duiwel

No problems. If you have issues with a vandal, be sure to report them on the Vandal List. --Adys 01:35, 15 February 2007 (EST)

Adding icon I understand, marking as stub and adding external links, too - but why did you remove info about purchasing it from G'eras along with the price? The same goes for Band of Halos. -- Vysogota 05:21, 16 February 2007 (EST)

Sorry I should have precised - The pages should use the template {{Alt Currency}} but for stability problems (See Village Pump) I rather not use it until the server upgrade is done. --Adys 05:23, 16 February 2007 (EST)

Lair / Cavern

I just saw you put Lady Vashj into Instance:Serpentshrine Lair category - isn't that wrong? Yesterday I created Instance:Serpentshrine Cavern category and put some articles there - as far as I know, the ingame name of the instance is Cavern, not Lair... -- Vysogota 03:24, 18 February 2007 (EST)

I'm not sure at all. I actually believe it's Serpentshrine Cavern now. Though we will use the in-game description whatever it is. Do you have a link to anything removing the doubt? --Adys 03:29, 18 February 2007 (EST)
Look here, click "Expansion" and hover the mouse over SC icon. You can also look here and click on the blue Coilfang Reservoir icon in Zangarmarsh. -- Vysogota 04:08, 18 February 2007 (EST)
Fair enough, will change it back then. Smiley --Adys 06:03, 18 February 2007 (EST)

Expired guild stub

What is the "expiration" for a guild stub? You put Divided Loyalties up for speedy. Thanks. WhiteBoy 22:58, 18 February 2007 (EST)

As precised on the {{Stub/Guild}} template: "If this article is not modified to comply with guild page policy in 30 days, it is a candidate for speedy deletion. ". --Adys 23:15, 18 February 2007 (EST)
I had most of it there, and think I have everything required now. Please take a look. WhiteBoy 23:17, 18 February 2007 (EST)
Thats fine, don't worry about it. It is mainly the lack of updates on guild articles that is annoying, or important informations missing (Server...) --Adys 23:54, 18 February 2007 (EST)
  • No problem. I didn't think to look for a guild article policy. My bad. WhiteBoy 23:59, 18 February 2007 (EST)

Creating a Quick Tutorial on Editing and Updating a Page

Hey Adys, wanted to thank you first off for adding some extra protection to my guild page ;) Again I appreciate it. I had a question though. Myself and some of the other folks working on our Server page were wondering what was the best way to incorporate a quick how-to on editing the wikipage, a brief description of the wiki-code used on our raid progression tables and whatnot. Is something along these lines better added to the discussion page, in a comment in the code, or on a completely new page (if that's even allowed) - or perhaps something like this even exists. Would appreciate any suggestions you might have ;) -- Duiwel 04:12, 20 February 2007 (EST)

Well, a good start can be Help:Contents (tho it's still to clean up). The Editing Quickref is very useful aswell as a reminder of most used actions. Then, for technical stuff and everything about the wiki system I recommend MetaWiki, but its an A-Z guide mostly skipping the basic stuff so might not be what you're looking for. Besides, you can drop down in the Village pump, on the IRC channel or even on here if you need anything Smiley --Adys 04:32, 20 February 2007 (EST)

Gem pages

Noticed you coming after me and ... cleaning up. I thought it was a useful addition, to put the properties of the cut jewels after the link, on the souce gem page (Shadow Draenite particularly). Was there a particular reason for removing them? To forestall further unwanted embellishments, would you review Rigid Golden Draenite as well? --Eirik Ratcatcher 13:27, 20 February 2007 (EST)

I am kind of busy at the moment (moving to greece in three days), but I promise I'll have the gem cleanup and revamp done as soon as I get done with all of this (within a week should be done). Sorry for rarely leaving notes about cleanups and stuff, I usually discuss much on IRC and am kind of quiet in there =/ --Adys 16:38, 20 February 2007 (EST)

Spell effect pages

I see the spell effect pages as reflecting the current structure of Thottbot's spell effect data. But I am not yet convinced that it is a 'win' for the wiki. It creates a page only used by the spell effect, which I don't see as having much use in and of itself. 'What links here' would help you find items with the same effect, but the wiki just isn't going to have search capabilities to make good use of it.

As far as "less text" goes, I think the overhead involved probably means the spell effect page has to be used by 3 or more other pages to break even. Which could happen for some effects, but not for others.

Could you expand a bit more on how you find the spell effects pages useful? I'm happy to use your template, I just don't know what benefit we are getting by it. --Eirik Ratcatcher 19:19, 23 February 2007 (EST)

Hi Adys, I noticed the following when looking at the Netherwind Robes page that in the settable on the right the number of items need for the bonus is missing so I went and pulled up the settable template Template:Settable/Netherwind Regalia and noticed that you did try to add it, but the Template:Effect isn't accepting it.

Nah I like to figure it out myself, and I did the problem is that the {{qif}} template in Template:Effect doesn't accept (3) Set as a valid parameter. I made a test in User:Montronax/Sandbox where I used a copy from Template:Effect (User:Montronax/Templatebox) and made a slight adjustment in the testSet=, I added a third parameter which is the number of set items.
So {{Template Sandbox|<22007>|<Set>|<8>}} creates:

Guildie Told me of a Possible Virus

Hey Adys,

I didn't catch the post on our guild forums until today, but one of our members reported getting a virus alert (or maybe a malicious script alert... i dunno, he wasn't overly specific)(In IE Only), when viewing the page for Prince Malchezaar. Wasn't sure if this was fixed already, or if it belonged on the Vandals Discussion or if there was a seperate place for Virus'. Anyways, he posted this a day or two ago, so I'm sure its fixed already, but I thought I'd still let ya know ;) No one using Firefox encountered this, including me. -- Duiwel 05:34, 13 March 2007 (EDT)

Never heard of something like that, and tbh it doesn't sound like something exactly easy to do without being seen, to me. But I promise I'll have a look. --Adys 13:05, 13 March 2007 (EDT)

Two things

I'd like to ask you a favor -- could you fix two things?
1) Template:Tooltip needs a small change regarding names disambiguation issue. It's all described on the talk page: Montronax wrote what to do and the only thing needed is an admin intervention.
2) Could you replace this with this (updated and better quality version)? -- Vysogota 17:46, 25 March 2007 (EDT)

For the map, I'm afraid it's too big - tried uploading it and it wiped out the Karazhan page, had to delete it and reupload the old one. But I'll have a look into doing a more readable one.
As for the tooltip I'll have to discuss it with a few other admins first. We were actually discussing possible item disambigs yesterday and I was going to make a standardization vote but there are other options we can look into. Thanks for pointing it out tho Smiley --Adys 01:22, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
I think you didn't understand me (regarding the map). On the Karazhan page there is a small image (243x600 px) and that's OK, no need to change it. But when you click it, the new page opens and new option shows -- it reads "Download high resolution version (701x1730 px"). That's the image I wanted you to replace with newer and bigger one :-) -- Vysogota 12:35, 26 March 2007 (EDT)
I did understand you, and it's actually not possible - thumbnails or not =/. It's a bug in the wiki software. But I promise I'll look into it. --Adys 15:39, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

Firstly, read here.

Secondly, that's just a complete Copy and Paste of the Curator page, it's being used as an example for showing my new version of the NPC Template, so changing the External Links is completely useless. If you'd like to help me with the request in the aforementioned Village Pump page I'd be very greatful. <Kiltek> blah / spam 09:24, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

Left a message on the talk page. I know it's only a copypaste (see The Curator), but I'm looking at it as a "boilerplate" for most boss articles. Don't take it as an agression.. --Adys 09:26, 28 March 2007 (EDT)
^^ No problem, and thanks very much for the feedback! There a link to the Boilerplate changes being implemented? --<Kiltek> blah / spam 09:30, 28 March 2007 (EDT)
Afaik, there's no boilerplate for boss pages - yet. Not that I think it's needed, but we could make it an "example-page" (which IMO works better than boilerplates). See User:Montag/Master Plan --Adys 09:33, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

Help:Item articles

lo siento. when was that gotten rid of? xD--Sky (t · c · w) 05:30, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Somewhere in october-november 2006? No clue now. But "quest reward" was the actual term on the Boilerplate and been changed to "reward" to avoid repetition. Btw, such messages belong on the talk page, not on user pages.. --Adys 05:33, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Deleting the bc tag on attumen

I saw you deleting the bc tag on the Attumen the Huntsman page, can elaborate on that one. You do realise that Karazhan is content for those who bought the Burning Crusade and that all others can't even enter Karazhan even if they wanted to. So the bc tag should stay.

// Patrigan | Talk/ Contr \\ 04:59, 1 May 2007 (EDT)

See below. --Adys 06:24, 1 May 2007 (EDT)

Remove Template:Bc-section?

I see you have a bot request to remove all instances of T:Bc and {{Bcarticle}}. If the intention is to no longer label BC content, then {{Bc-section}} should probably be removed as well, and perhaps {{Bc-inline}} as well? --Murph 05:24, 1 May 2007 (EDT)

Nope {{bc-section}} will stay as it is. "Major" BC content will be re-labeled with another non categorizing template most likely. --Adys 06:23, 1 May 2007 (EDT)
In that case, I'd like to suggest the re-introduction of {{Bcarticle}}, probably as {{Bc-article}} (to be more readable and follow what seems to be the normal convention) ASAP. I'm not sure what anyone else is doing, but I've been trying to clean up and flesh out the high level leatherworking articles, particularly the items (products and patterns), and it would be easy for me to add an appropriate tag as I was doing so (for the skill >300, level >60, or Outland / BC-faction only) items. I had been diligently adding {{Bcarticle}}, as it seemed to be the right thing to do. I'm quite open to suggestions on what the preferred format/labelling should be. --Murph 07:32, 1 May 2007 (EDT)
"Obvious" stuff (such as 300+ skill requirements, 60+ level requirements, blood elf/draenei/outland zoneup requirements etc) should never be flagged because it's unneeded. Pop on IRC at some point and I could give you more details, but this part has always been very blur and that's why Im asking for the removal of all the instances of the template. --Adys 07:36, 1 May 2007 (EDT)
Ok, that's sounds a reasonable enough point of view to me. I was just concerned about reducing future effort, by correctly labelling things now, but I'm quite happy with your proposal to leave the obvious stuff unlabelled, if that's going to be the norm. My only suggestion at this point is to give some clear guidelines on whatever new labelling is introduced, so that we don't end up with the situation of, for example, some of the items labelled BC, and some not labelled BC. --Murph 08:30, 1 May 2007 (EDT)

What's with the deletes?

At the moment Im on a deleting wave, to remove current item stubs that would be ignored by KasoBot (talkcontr). The pages should reappear in a much smoother way within a few days. --Adys 06:45, 7 May 2007 (EDT)

Is this deletion-spree still ongoing? And are you also deleting items that no longer are marked as stub? Namely Plans: Sageblade, Plans: Felsteel Gloves, Plans: Felsteel Leggings, Plans: Felsteel Shield Spike, Plans: Enchanted Adamantite Breastplate, Plans: Earthpeace Breastplate, Plans: Dark Iron Gauntlets, Plans: Adamantite Weightstone and Plans: Adamantite Sharpening Stone that I recently fixed are now deleted. Why? --Ragowit {talk · contr · qt eu} 21:35, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Aye it is. The tooltips should have, in addition to what KasoBot does, only "sell=" and "ilvl=", nothing more. --Adys 00:45, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Why, hello there! Yes, I'm back, again :D Good to see you still around, mate. Might hop on IRC at some point soon, see what's going on. TUSVA ~ T | C 16:36, 11 May 2007 (EDT)

Coreiel's page

Whats with the discrepancy on how to handle picture of blizz moderators? I edited Eyonix because "The picture was not related to the person; picture belonged on NPC page", and a mod came in with a sweeping revert and put the picture back.. so I edited Coreiel to add in her NPC picture, and a mod came in with a sweeping revert and took the picture away. Caverns of Time

Heya Adys. I wanted to delete the category:Instance:Caverns of Time to avoid people putting things into it altogether, but thought I'd check in with you since you've put up all those change-to-cat links. Even with those there, it's easy for someone to put the cat on a page and not check if the cat is correct before moving on. --User:Varghedin/Sig 07:58, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Instance:Caverns of Time is definetly good for deletion. Though I believe Zone:Caverns of Time is still valid.. I would have to doublecheck but I remember that, at least before Burning Crusade, the zone (on /who etc) was clearly showing "Caverns of Time" behind the portal. I believe it's no longer the case though, so up to you on whether you want it kept for an easier categorizing of fair bit of articles/subcats or deleted for something more "standard". --Adys 11:46, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Hah, while I'm at it, I brought up the subject a couple of times, about Instance:Tempest Keep / Instance:Eye and Instance:Serpentshrine Cavern / Instance:Coilfang Reservoir. In-game uses are very clearly "Tempest Keep" and "Coilfang Reservoir". The names "The Eye" and "Serpentshrine Cavern" are only used in quests, spells etc. I proposed replacing Instance:Eye by Instance:Tempest Keep and Instance:Sertpentshrine Cavern by Instance:Coilfang Reservoir. The recategorization could be eventually botted. Watcha think? --Adys 11:50, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
I killed instance:caverns of time. I think the zone:caverns of time should stay because there's so much going on outside the instance portals. This stuff is actually accessible to people without BC so we may end up putting it out into zone:tanaris. I'll try to remember to check how the game treats it.
As for Serpentshrine and the Eye, I think they should stay the way they are. This is how most players know them, and using the more generic dungeon names could potentially create some annoying ambiguities. That's my 2 copper anyway. --User:Varghedin/Sig 11:13, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Missing icons

Sky told me that I should ask you, so here I am: could you upload to WoWWiki icons for [Blood-stained Pauldrons] and [Blade of Infamy]? It looks like there are many 2.1 icons missing here and I don't know how to extract them from Wowhead... -- Vysogota T / C

Allakhazam is best use to extract them (Wowhead uses modified JPGs), I'll do that as soon as possible --Adys 21:45, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I know, but Allakhazam doesn't have 2.1 icons at the moment (it shows only black squares). BTW: the next item without proper icon is [Mantle of Darkness], more to come tomorrow. -- Vysogota T / C

When it gets undeleted I would be happy to fix anything that does not follow policy, but I am not aware of any issues with the page I had created. —MJBurragetalk • 19:37, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
The article has been restored an properly named Guild:Ninth Circle (Hellscream US) per policy. The image will need to be uploaded again. --GRYPHONtc 19:42, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
You deleted my guild Decerto. The only reason I can think of would be because it was semi out of date. It was not disbanded. It does still exist, just on another server and wasn't completely updated as such. Please restore and it will be updated (would have been nice to been notified as such beforehand).Sam Weber 20:33, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
The page has been restored! Kirkburn talk contr 21:46, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
The page for the guild Band of Thorns (Band_of_Thorns) has been deleted. Could I please have this restored and I will fix any policy errors. Thanks

Suggestion for {{effect}}

I just looked at your {{effect}} template; it's pretty neat! I thought I'd make a suggestion on using {{#switch:}}, though — if you wrap your condition in {{lc:}} and make your comparisons lowercase, the template becomes case-insensitive and people can use whatever case comes most naturally to them:

Um, hi there. Why did you delete this article? I really can't think of much more to ask than that! Smiley IconSmall Orc Male1336 00:29, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Redundant article. Same for Range --Adys 13:47, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
I'm confused. Duration and Range are separate topics and there is no page for Range... ?_? IconSmall Orc Male1336 03:37, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
I meant that both Range and Duration are redundant, hence the delete. They are not terms specific to the game, they are words you can look up in a dictionary :) --Adys 03:49, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Stub/Notorious necessary?

I've noticed this tag on a lot of pages that are otherwise "complete". The tag seems like clutter to me. Why not just categorise them and leave the tags out? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Raze (talkcontr).

Just as you were speaking I was replacing it by {{Stub/Blizzard}}. I only tagged a couple of "complete" pages with it though, but mostly because they require cleanup (Slouken). --Adys 04:21, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Oh ok, sounds good. - Raze 04:30, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I was told you might know what happened to the Boilerplate:Object page? I know a lot of the boilerplates were being moved over to Help: pages, but I checked Help:Object and it doesn't exist. Please let me know what's up or who else to ask about it. Thanks. --Jiyambi t || c 02:53, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

I "temporarly deleted" it, as I said I was likely going to undelete it but atm it was to make the way clean. Though, as i said on IRC, it'd be much better to have real help pages there rather than slapping up boilerplates for anything and everything and not saying what an article should actually contain. --Adys 03:50, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I don't have IRC so I have no idea what goes on there. So, are the Help pages eventually going to include more than just the boilerplate, is the boilerplate going to move somewhere else? I'm not trying to be demanding, and it's fine if you don't know. I'm just not sure who to ask questions to. If you like I could write a more detailed help page to go with the object boilerplate, since I created it in the first place. Let me know what I can do to help. --Jiyambi t || c 06:04, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Aye the plan is to have more detailed help pages. Eventually get rid of the boilerplates and use example well-written articles instead, and write up more about what the article should contain and how it should be written rather than slap up an unreadable all-around overfilled template :) --Adys 06:28, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I put the old boilerplate up on Help:Object articles for now (as per Sky's suggestion) but I will try out something like what you described, if someone else doesn't get to it first. Thanks again for the information. --Jiyambi t || c 06:35, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Sorry to bug you again. I have been messing around with that object article help page and I have tried to create something like what you described. Here is what I currently have: User:Jiyambi/Help:Object articles. When you have time, let me know what you think. Thanks a bunch. --Jiyambi t || c 23:03, 30 July 2007 (UTC) UPDATE: I modified it further, see User:Jiyambi/Object articles. I also asked for comments on the Help talk:Object articles page. Let me know what you think. --Jiyambi t || c 20:51, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Er, you posted the photo of the pamphlet for WoW:WotLK from Blizzcon, could you type up what the pamphlet says? 200206a

Talk pages

D'you think it would be despotic of me to start banning people who add new comments to the top of discussion pages? --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 12:40, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Despotic nah. Just harsh :P --Adys 13:22, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

This morning, I'm seeing things like Schematic:_Masterwork_Target_Dummy show:

  • a quality line (common, etc)
  • an empty box, labeled with the link tooltip
  • a list of ingredients for the item the schematic is for

This looks wrong, but I can't point to your Aug 5 edit and say that it caused it. Any ideas? --Eirik Ratcatcher 18:43, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Looks fine to me. Caching problems? --Adys 00:09, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Edit - Nevermind I see what you're talking about. It's been reverted meanwhile, the lootbox was on request per laurly but turned out to cause some problems. --Adys 00:11, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

What the hell is your problem? Comming in on my page acting all high and mighty without explaning what the hell you are on about? If its something that happened months ago, then that's really childish. As I said, I am minding my temper (regardless of what you think). I don't troll, I speak my mind. Next time write clearer messages or be quiet. --Crash 00:25, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

I think it was in response to [1] (though I think the response was a bit too much ... /me pokes Adys with a twig). (On second reading, it's not that harshly worded, he's doing his job as an admin, but be assured we're not here to revert "everything you do") Can I note you appear to be doing exactly what you counsel against by doing this? We want to all try and get along, please. :) Kirkburn talk contr 01:42, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Well Kirkburn, he is not doing his job since I didn't say anything particularly rude or out of line in the thing you linked to. As for I'm doing what I'm counseling against? I don't understand? If he doesn't write on my talk page I won't write on his. Btw did that user stylesheet thing ever get working? --Crash 22:24, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Grow up. --Adys 22:39, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
