This article is a player information page

The contents herein are entirely player made and in no way represent official World of Warcraft history or occurrences which are accurate for all realms. The characters and events listed are of an independent nature and applied for roleplaying, fictional, speculative, or opinions from a limited playerbase only. Please make sure player character articles are in user namespaces - see the personal article policy.

Basic Info Edit

The player behind Ciarnat, etc., is an adult, happily married, with a house, a full time job, and several pets.

Having spent ten years as a technical writer and another few as an editor, she is obsessed with strange things like serial commas, proper use of semicolons, and spelling. She has since found others with similar foibles and formed the guild Chronicles currently found on the Sisters of Elune RP server.

Guild Leadership Edit

In 2000, Ciarnat joined Ultima Online. She first joined an RP guild but found the combination of an IC guild and OOC game mechanics to be very restricting. Besides, the guild had declared war on another guild right at the time of the Orc Invasion, which meant that she died A LOT, and no one outside the guild could heal or rez her. Between this frustration and political idiocy, she left and formed her own guild.

In 2002 or 2003, Ciarnat found Dark Age of Camelot. There, she joined an RP guild and found the same frustrations with having an IC guild. She left, formed her own guild, and allied with her old guild. After the guild alliance proved more interested in RvR than in RP, she went to Gaheris. She formed an RP guild as part of the RP alliance there and learned to love the open RP environment.

In 2004, Ciarnat became the PvE server team lead for Gaheris. It was through the team lead program that she met her husband, who was the thane team lead at the time. She coaxed him into rolling on Gaheris, where her RP guild was growing in strength and numbers, creating some wonderful storylines. Together, they helped to codify the concept of an OOC RP guild.

In 2005, after the stress of being a team lead finally wore them both down, Ciarnat and her husband tried World of Warcraft. After getting past the cartoonish graphics and campy humor, she recreated her old RP guild. The guild has shifted across factions and servers, running from the invasions of raid-obsessed doodz, following the whims of the players.

OOC RP Guild Edit

An OOC RP guild gives players the freedom to play characters who are enemies or allies, villains or heroes, all while wearing the same guild tag and sharing the same resources. In DAoC, this meant access to guild housing and vaults; in WoW, this means access to the guild bank and /guildchat.

The guild serves as a network for roleplayers. Out of character, the players are friends. IC, the characters might be deadly enemies, allowing players to explore stories full of conflict, intrigue, and suspense without having the complication of kicking people out of an IC guild when their stories no longer mesh.

The guild does not have a virtual guildhouse, hearthstone-based walkie-talkies or cell phones, or any other excuse for IC /g. Rather, /guildchat is OOC, used for networking stories, forming groups, and, most important, establishing friendships.

RP Style Edit

Ciarnat RPs in /say and /emote, not in /party, /raid, or channels. Unless otherwise established beforehand, Ciarnat does not RP through instances or while questing.

Ciarnat does not force RP to bend to guild mechanics. Unless something is obvious, she will not assume anything about a character she has just met, including name, guild or other affiliation, or profession.

After prolonged exposures to horrific character histories and an epidemic of bad grammar, Ciarnat has RP descriptions turned off.

Some of Ciarnat's characters can be brash or rude; this should be taken as IC behavior and not OOC. Fellow RPers should feel free to /whisper her to work things out if necessary.

While many of Ciarnat's RP plots are mature, Ciarnat is not looking for ERP. An IC attempt at ERP on most of her characters will, in fact, lead to an IC violent response. An OOC attempt will lead to /ignore and a GM report.

Gaming Style Edit

Ciarnat is a tank. In fact, Ciarnat has been tanking so long and loves tanking so much that she is barely capable of playing any other role in a group or raid.

Characters Edit

Trivia Edit

Ciarnat is an alt-aholic and has been known to dual box in both raids and RP.

In the summer of 2008, Ciarnat and some of her guildmates wrote a series of forum stories that, in total, spanned more than 400 pages and three years. It was entirely unplanned.
