Blood Dance 2Edit

Slowly one of his eyes crept open, followed closely by the other one. He blinked a few times to clear his blurry vision. He was staring at a ceiling, he didn’t remember being anyplace with a ceiling.

His tongue darted out of his mouth wetting his dry, cracked lips. He tried in vain to place where he was. The last thing he remembered was the dark haired elf, and his sinister green eyes. Piercing him as he felt the cut of cold, harsh steel. He vaguely remembered the flurry of the fight, his escape to the rooftops a fleeting memory. And then, nothing.

He groaned as he tried sitting up. He made it part way up and flopped back down. His head hit a nice fluffy pillow. One his descent, he managed to make out that he wasn’t alone in the room. He rolled to his left quickly.

Staring him in the face were a pair of pink soled bare feet, crossed at the ankles. He recoiled a moment. Pulling himself back as their owner spoke. “You didn’t seem to mind them in your face last time Darling.”

Kranik looked up past the dainty toes to their owner. “That was because last time, you had grog running down your leg elf girl.” he hissed.

Rainyia smirked, just enough to stifle the impish giggle that was bubbling in the back of her throat. “You were in bad shape when you crashed here. You were lucky, I was entertaining a priestess. You may not have made it otherwise.” she said.

Kranik reached over with his right hand and grabbed Rainyia’s left big toe. He lifted it, causing both of her feet to leave the bed. He moved them off the bed and let go. She moved forward as her feet hit the floor.

He began to slowly work his way up to a sitting position. “You know, since you are in my bed Darling. I had to sleep somewhere.” she cooed at him with her smirk devilishly pasted on her ruby lips.

He simply looked at her, while she spoke. He began to work the kinks out of his arms. The blazing sword slash across his chest hurt like a gate of hell had been opened onto his very flesh. His brain tried to tell him something. He could feel it, something wasn’t right. He couldn’t place it.

“So, you want to tell me what you were doing in my city, that would cause you to get so hurt and pass out on my balcony?” she asked as she watched him work on his arms, her eyes drifted across the massive scar across his chest.

“You mind telling me where my tunic is?” he asked back.

“While you slept, I brought your gear to be repaired. There was no way your tunic would hold up again in a fight.” she said back. “It is in the closet, which I will get for you. Once you tell me what happened to you.”

He groaned. “I got into a fight with an elf.” was all he said.

She slowly stood up from the chair and sashayed over to the closet. “Oh come now darling, there is more to that story then that.” she shot back over her shoulder, as she opened the closet door.

He took a deep breath. “I killed the nobleman and his wife responsible for trying to kill my wife. When the job was done, I was attacked by...” he paused a moment. His brain fought him for the proper words. He was still at a loss of words for what happened at the ballroom. He had been bested, but did she really need to know the crux of it. He figured no. “ elf. One of their elite bodyguards.” he finally finished.

“Uh huh. You don’t lie well darling.” she said while she began to make sure all of his gear was in proper order.

Kranik had to stop himself from staring at her, as she bent down to grab something from a lower shelf in the closet. “What? Its true. I killed the nobleman.” he said defensively.

“I didn’t mean that part darling.” she said as she spun back around. His gear folded neatly, his daggers laid across the top of his tunic.

He growled a moment. “You wouldn’t believe me, even if I did tell you the truth.....” he let his statement hang unspoken, as his brain finally managed to send him the proper signals. The elf had managed to find out where he was and instantly appear there. What was stopping him from doing it again, like now.

“Try me, you would be surprised in what I can believe darling.” she quipped back.

“Pack some things, we aren’t safe here.” he commanded.

“What?” she asked back in shock.

“Don’t question me elf girl, just do.” he barked, as he pushed himself out of bed.

“I can’t just up and....” she began to protest.

He towered over her a moment. Before leering down into her face. “You can, and you will.” with a tone so sinister, so dark, it made her legs shiver just for a moment.

She simply looked at him a moment before leaving her room to pack some things. He dressed hastily. They tried to take his wife away, and now there was a good chance they would come for her as well. He slid the daggers into their sheaths on his belt. He cursed to himself that he had lost his mask. He slid his eyepatch out from his belt, and fit it over his right eye.

He walked out of her room, she stood in the living room of her posh apartment. She was as ready as she would ever be. “You care to explain to me what is going on darling?” she asked as he motioned towards the door.

“Yes, you are in danger.” was all he said. “ I will explain more when it is needed. For now, its paramount you are brought somewhere safe. Somewhere away from me.” he continued.

“Well how about you just leave and I stay here, wouldn’t that make more sense.” she asked back.

They walked out on to a bright cobblestone street. Brooms swept the lane of their own accord. “Only if you want to be tortured and killed slowly....sure. Somehow I don’t think you want that.” he hissed back.

“It would be a shame for someone else to carve up your delicate flesh, to make you scream for them. That distinction will be all mine” he thought. He shook his head violently. Where on earth did that thought come from.

She looked up at the large troll, he was determined and deadly. “No, of course not.” she said back. She raised an eyebrow as he shook his head back and forth.

“Good then we leave Silvermoon. Put you someplace safe.” he began to say.

“And what will you do while I am ferreted away darling?” she asked, as she bolted up closer to him. He was striding farther ahead of her.

“Find that elf, and kill him.” he said back.

“Given the severity of your wounds last time, do you honestly think the next time will turn out any differently?” she asked with a hint of concern hanging in her melodic voice.

“He surprised me. We ended up fighting the battle on his terms, not mine.” he shot back defensively.

“Won’t he try and do the same again?” she asked back.

A smirk appeared on his face. “He will try, a good tactician will always seek to fight the battle on his terms....” he paused a moment as a cool breeze washed over them in the lane. “Which is why he will fail.” he added as they stepped towards the Court of the Sun.
