Typhoon is a Druid ability from tier 10 of the Balance tree.

Typhoon is an instant-cast, cone of damage, 20-second cooldown spell that knocks the target back 5 yards. It offers the ability to knock opponents off of cliffs or boats, which can be highly enjoyable, as well as make the enemy players really mad at you.

Rank table

Rank Level Base Mana Cost X Damage Knockback Cost
1 50 36% 400 5 yards
2 60 36% 550 5 yards
3 70 36% 735 5 yards
4 75 36% 1010 5 yards
5 80 36% 1190 5 yards

Tips and tactics

  • The druid equivalent of Cone of Cold, this spell adds some nice focused AOE damage. Note that the spell will be cast in the direction of your target if you have one, not the direction you're facing. This depends on if the target is considered to be in front of you, the spell is not omnidirectional.
  • Try pushing enemies off of cliffs with this. If the fall is far enough, it can deal substantial damage, or even kill the player. Just for one instant spell! This makes players really mad.
  • This can be used as a nice interrupt for those really long or nasty spells. Typhoon is one of the few and best interrupts the druid has (Both ranged and instant). But try to time it a little early, as the knockback is slightly delayed.
  • Use this an the beginning of a fight, so you can get past the cooldown faster. Immediately follow up with moonfire and insect swarm, then drop starfall and your treants. This way, the enemy player will continue to take massive damage even if you get feared or stunlocked. The initial Typhoon helps give you time to drop your instants, as well as dealing damage.
  • Note that the actual swath affected by Typhoon is much larger than the wave produced by the spell. Consider this when planning your attack. Many a druid has lost his life to an accidental pulling of many, many more mobs when his Typhoon hit another pack.
