Instance drop is a simple way of WoWWiki:Semantic MediaWiki semantically defining an item dropping from a boss in an instance.

Using the template automatically gives the page the properties Drops from, Drops in instance and Drops in mode.

Other semantic source templates include {{Crafted}}, {{Rewarded}}, {{Sold from}}.

{{Instance drop|<Boss>|<Instance>|<Player count>|<Instance mode>|<bosspage=>|<instancepage=>}}

The first two parameters are self-explanatory: The boss the item drops from and the instance the boss is found in.

The third parameter is the player count for the instance: If not defined, the template defaults to 5-player mode, the standard for a dungeon. Valid options are 5, 10, 20, 25, 40.

The fourth parameter, if defined, sets the instance mode required for the item to drop. "Heroic" is the only valid instance mode at present. Leave the fourth parameter undefined if the item drops in normal mode.

The two named parameters allow for overrides in case the boss or instance page doesn't match the in-game name. Examples include Kel'Thuzad (tactics), Nexus (instance).

{{Instance drop|<Edwin VanCleef>|<Deadmines>}}
{{Instance drop|<Kael'thas Sunstrider>|<Magisters' Terrace>|<5>|<Heroic>|<bosspage=Kael'thas Sunstrider (Magisters' Terrace tactics)>}}
{{Instance drop|<Patchwerk>|<Naxxramas>|<25>}}
{{Instance drop|<C'Thun>|<Temple of Ahn'Qiraj>|<40>|<name=Some bogus name>}}
