Old discussion[]

I totally agree about what is said about the VoidWalkers in the trivia : just finished my first DM's and while playing a priest dwarf my camera messed up and I couldn't heal groupmembers nor attack mobs because of a Warlock's voidwalker who standed all the time in front of the chars ... GRRRRR !--Kirochi 18:01, 25 Jan 2006 (EST)

Odd. Aren't the voidwalkers in this game something else in WarIII? I remember I've clearly seen their model before as something else inside the main game. For sure that model is in WarIII, as I've seen them in DotA. Pzychotix 12:09, 8 August 2006 (EDT)

Apparently the ones used in DotA are modified water elementals made to look like the void walker in WoW. Huh. Pzychotix 01:39, 10 August 2006 (EDT)

Templates / Duplicate info[]

Tables need to be made into templates. or linked to their individual pages (recommended) CJ 06:16, 3 November 2006 (EST)

Done, but same needs to be done for the other warlock pets :P CJ 06:21, 3 November 2006 (EST)

Burning or No?[]

Are they really allied wih the Leigion or are they just demons used by warlocks? The Ethereal page disagrees.--SWM2448 20:10, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Other leaders[]

Is Void Baron Galaxis important? Go in the infobox?--SWM2448 23:01, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Shadow elementals?[]

in a sence, arn't VWs shadow elementals? they are pure darkness (dont know why they glow blue though), look like elementals, and even have on bracers. --Truckman1 09:36, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Elementals don't wear bracers. The Voidwalker isn't an elemental because it isn't made from an element, but more the absence of elements.   Zurr  TC 01:07, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Elementals do wear bracers.--SWM2448 01:08, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Shadow isn't really an element. Its the opposite of light.Baggins 01:28, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Though somewhat unrelated, the note about the bracers may relate to the difference between voidwalker pets and outland voidwalkers. In one of the quest relating to current dalaran, it was mentioned that the mages used the bracers to brind the elementals to the mortal plane of existance. The bracer on summoned voidwalkers could be how they're kept under control, where a the ones in outland are "natural" and "free".Tweak the Whacked 05:05, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Elementals in their natural plane of existence do not wear bracers. The bracers are only worn to keep an elemental bound to the physical plane of existence. Without them they will be banished back to their own elemental plane, whether slowly or instantly, unless perhaps they use magic to sustain themselves. I don't know. Also, I should note that Zereketh the Unbound looks like he is "fraying" or something, more than a normal voidwalker. Like he is leaking back to the void. And what is the definition of an element? A type of matter/energy that cannot be created by the combining of other matter types? That would be fire. The basic, unsubstituted ingredients for an interactive existence? That would be fire, wind, water, shadow, lightning, light, soil... a lot of things. How can we define an element? Luckily we don't have to concerning this, since voidwalkers are not shadow, but void. Pure space. The absence of existence, with a mind of its' own. Isn't that awesome?--Mesethusela (talk) 10:01, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

This is a bit of a necro, but in the new Patch for Dragonflight it was Datamined that one of the abilities of one of the bosses for Aberrus will corrupt Shamans abilities causes them to drop a totem that summon a Shadow Elemental. This is the 2nd time a Shadow Elemental is named together with Darkweaver Syth.--Ashendant160 (talk) 02:53, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

The Void[]

Not gonna lie, with recent revelations brought about by the expansion, the Void seems to have potential as an even more insidious bad guy faction than the Scourge and the Legion. The Scourge's goals seem largely bound to Azeroth for now, so they are a minor issue on a galactic scale. The Burning Legion seeks to destroy everything so that Sargeras can recreate it in his own twisted vision. The Void, however, seeks one thing: to turn everything to nothing. Nothing else to it. I would really like to see blizzard develop the Void as as its own major faction, separate from the Legion. --Adonzo 10:39, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Uncited passage[]

Voidwalkers exist only to consume and bring more into the void. Voidwalkers are a paradox of life itself. They are created through a time space anomaly in the void which grants them sapience. To exist they constantly have to devour the energies of the physical world around them, furthering its dissolvement and creating warp rifts which may spawn new void. They sometimes 'work with' (are enslaved by) demons and can be summoned by warlocks, but have no interest in the religion of the Burning Crusade, caring only for bringing an end to all creation leaving only the shadowy nothingness in which they thrive.

I have removed this passage from the page because it has been there for a long while with a fact tag, and I doubt it has a source. It was added by Adonzo after Ragestorm added the infobox,[1] and expanded by myself (in what seems to be a poor attempt to reconcile Burning Crusade revelations),[2] so it seem to be fan fiction.--SWM2448 19:12, September 13, 2009 (UTC)

I personally don't remember where I got that from, I'm not one to spontaneously make background information. Strange. --Adonzo (talk) 07:46, September 30, 2009 (UTC)

Types[]

Is there a source that says that "voidwalker" is the term used to refer to all Void creatures as a whole (like the Breakers or Primals) and that void gods, etc. are mere subtypes of voidwalkers? If not, I don't really think we should list other types of Void creatures and notable void gods, void revenants, etc. simply as "types" or "classes" of Voidwalkers. I've always been under the impression that there are many types of creatures originating from the Void, and that voidwalkers are simply the weakest and most common type, not that the other beings are subspecies of voidwalker. I would rather that we list the various types of Void beings on the Void page. (Hopefully this made sense.) -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 07:35, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

Also, I can't remember ever seeing any Void creature being affiliated with the Burning Legion, aside from Xhul'horac. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 07:36, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
