Run or fly? (July 2005) Edit

Re: "Step 4: You must then run on foot from Menethil Harbor to Ironforge in Dun Morogh. "

The map at [1] shows a Flight from Menethil Harbor to Ironforge for 3 silver, 30 copper: is the map wrong? Or is this new? Or are you just trying to get us to save money by running on foot?

You can fly from Menethil Harbor to Ironforge. But I think it's written for first timers, since you don't have the flightpath until you have talked with the Flight Masters (at both locations). So, if you want to get to Ironforge for the first time from Darnassus you will have to run by foot through Loch Modan, then into Dun Morogh and last enter Ironforge.
An advice is to take the Flight Master at the town Thelsamar in Loch Modan before continuing towards Ironforge.

Can anyone make a travel guide Darnassus-everlook?

Cataclysm-Logo-Small version:

from darnassus, take the purple portal west of the bank into Rut'theran Village, from there, take a flight to lor'danel on darkshore, or astranaar in ashenvale of you got the flight point.

[lor'danel to astranaar (skip this if you got flight point to astranaar)]

follow the road south out of lor'danel all the way trough the rivers, ruins of auberdine, the vortex, and the grove of the ancients, until you reach an Y-shaped split, go left on that split into ashenvale. follow that road south trough Orendil's Retreat and trough Maestra's Post, until you reach another Y-split, go left there, and follow the road without any turn straight into astranaar.

[astranaar to Felwood-Everlook]

take the road out of town into the south-east, immidietly turn left on the Y-split that you see, then follow the road behind the volcano, after that take the first turn left that you come across, it will take you straight into felwood.

follow that road all the way trough felwood, it wil take you to the northeastern corner of felwood, there you will find a furbolg tunnel, the furbolg may be neutral or unfriendly, but wont attack you as of Cataclysm-Logo-Small keep on the right side in the tunnel, and tadaa! you are now in Winterspring.

follow the road into the east, keep on left until you see a turn with 3 ways (including where you came from, the turn will be at the eastern part of Winterspring) take the most eastern road. the first town you come across at is everlook

its a bit of a fuzz...but the only way to reach Winterspring, and thus Everlook

So, how do you get from Gadgetzan to Slithius? Un'goro is a trifle confusing.

A good (and SAFE) way to get to Silithus is swimming along the shores and drown yourself as soon as it says you're in Silithus. It can be done from Tanaris and from Feralas. As for myself I traveled from Desolace to Silithus that way and it went extremely well. As a bonus, I got the Feathermoon Stronghold flight path in Feralas! With that trick, I could see the openings of the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj on Turalyon at lvl 35! --Valeria 07:04, 25 July 2006 (EDT)

Spirit Healer Edit

As far as I know it is not possible to use the spirit healer at another graveyard for travel. While you can ask for resurrection at any spirit healer, you will still resurrect at the graveyard nearest to your corpse. Thus this method cannot be used for trave, or am I missing something here? That's what I remember too. Spirit Healer may have once been able to be used in this way, but I think one of the very early patches corrected this "Ability." --mgg4 14:23, 20 July 2006 (EDT)

You can use the spirit healers for travel. That is, when you die, you do not always appear at the last graveyard "behind" you, but at the closest. If this is "ahead" of you, you have effectively skipped a piece of potentially dangerous territory. You can not, however, go to a different spirit healer in "ghost" form. If you self-ress anywhere else, you will always pop back to the graveyard where your ghost first appeared. -- Nils 22:36, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
There are some ways around this. For example, if you zone to a different continent while dead (by boat etc.) you can resurrect at any graveyard, since your corpse on the other continent, and it will not make you zone when you res. This could be useful for some traveling, such as a NE traveling to Ironforge for the first time. They could drown themselves in Auberdine, get on the boat as a ghost, run through wetlands, and resurrect at the graveyard rigth outside Ironforge, and not have to worry about getting killed repedetly along the way. --Starbuk 05:11, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Battle Grounds Edit

If you are of high enought lvl, couldn't you just get a BG invite and then you will pop out @ Ironforge? Paralax 04:19, 7 July 2006 (EDT)

I hardly ever do BGs, but my understanding is that you exit the same way you were signed up from. You'd have to have an accomplice in Ironforge to queue you both up and have the BG pop up before you make it there on your own merit to make it actually save any time. --Growler 04:25, 7 July 2006 (EDT)

Stormwind -> Booty Bay Edit

I've taken the liberty of adding a third route, via Kalimdor. I just figured this one out today. I took it with my level 30 hunter, who would have still been toast in STV. The Murlocs are really easy to avoid, as there are none in the water. It'd be interesting to see if a very low level could make it (due to huge aggro ranges). The pirates are all on land, so at worst one could swim around them. The flight paths you get to pick up are a really nice bonus too. -- Nils 22:48, 21 October 2006 (EDT)

Splitting suggestions Edit

Obviously this page is too big. I suggest that we split it in two to start: Alliance Travel Guide and Horde Travel Guide. If those articles get bigger, we would have to find yet another split, but I think it will do for now. Let's have a bit of a poll, let us know if you agree/disagree. Or just make a list of links / categories, and give each guide it's own page, so you can add pictures and everything. Seems a good idea anyway.

I've made the first step: Alliance Travel Guide and Horde Travel Guide are now open. I think that we can leave it at that, and if any particular travel guides become really cumbersome (5 or more routes and/or a lot of (or a lot of opportunities for) pictures?) we can split them into their own article. Adding Special items. Edit

I cannot find a guide on special travel items/uses anywhere, thought one should be start on wowwiki. The [Ring of the Kirin Tor] for example, [Argent Crusader's Tabard] or [Direbrew's Remote].
