May I suggest to add the speculation about these mounts being the original horses of the High Elves and how they got into thalassian sails of the Second War? User:Delteri 6/16/2009

Do you have any source for this speculation? --PcjWoWWiki admin (TDrop me a line!C58,926 contributions and counting) 00:30, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Other than they having horns, like those of unicorns. No ^^ and I feel dumb for that. That was pretty much based in what I've been hearing from many people lately.User:Delteri 6/16/2009
See WW:DNP: "Unsourced speculation (that is, speculation without factual sources) is not permitted in main namespace articles on the wiki" --PcjWoWWiki admin (TDrop me a line!C58,926 contributions and counting) 00:43, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Oh I'm so forgetful. Thanks for pointing that out.Well, according to the Writting Lore/Speculation policy page, the very definition of speculation (that would be of filling lore gaps, in question "Why Unicorns in Elven sails?") could be seen as enough "source" to me(I can't really think of a concrete source for an speculation other than facts that support it).But of course, thats only my opinion and I apologize for any trouble I caused with this suggestion. User:Delteri 6/16/2009
That is when there is a framework of lore around which to base speculation, there is no such "gap" to fill here because there is nothing to base the speculation on. --PcjWoWWiki admin (TDrop me a line!C58,926 contributions and counting) 01:04, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I see =x.User:Delteri 6/16/2009

Why is the Quel'Dorei Steed classified as a Zhevra rather than an Elven Horse? Especially given that "Quel'Dorei Steed" pretty much MEANS "Elven Horse." -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 01:08, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Horses don't have horns. Steed means "mount", not necessarily "horse". --PcjWoWWiki admin (TDrop me a line!C58,926 contributions and counting) 01:12, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Can you give a source (online dictionary or something) where it says that "steed" means "mount"? I have searched and only find that "steed" means a "horse for state or war" or similar things. Benitoperezgaldos (talk) 01:24, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
I was going more from the connotation of the word than the definition. In most cases it means horse, but in the real world people don't usually ride zebras or actually more unicorns in this case. I will give you the steed bit, but I still think it's more a "zhevra" than a horse. Maybe unicorn would be a better description? Don't konw. --PcjWoWWiki admin (TDrop me a line!C58,926 contributions and counting) 01:38, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

I personally agree with unicorn. I mean, seriously, do you really think they'd go through all the trouble to get all the way over to the Barrens, snatch a couple hundred zhevras, spray-paint their stripes, and then take them ALL the way back to Icecrown? I'm not sure about you, but I certainly think that's just plain BS. IconSmall WolvarBig, furry, and insane (Have a conversation with the homocidal furry!) That's the other part of it. Going all the back to Warcraft 2, the high elves have had unicorns in their insignia, including on their sails. Now we've actually got an animal that is more or less an elven unicorn, and it feels like we're trying to ignore the connection. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 01:53, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Odd that it is not technically a unicorn, as it has two or three horns.--SWM2448 18:37, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Zhevras also have the same number of horns as the Quel'dorei Steed if you look closely. Benitoperezgaldos (talk) 21:37, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
The unicorn article states that a zhevra is a type of unicorn, as well as the simply dubbed "unicorn". So, either way, it's still technically a unicorn, lol. I don't think the statement has a source though. Does a source say it or did a user just say "a zhevra is a unicorn"? For instance, I just looked at the source for unicorn and it doesn't say anything about it being "usually white". Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 06:29, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm really not sure what should be done about this, so I think I'll just put down some hard facts.

  • Quel'dorei Steeds have the same model as a Zhevera, but a different texture.
  • High elves have the same model as Blood elves but different textures.
  • Unicorn Emblems, in Warcraft II, and in WoW, have been associated with High elves- prominently on the sails. of High elven Ships.
  • Silver Covenant Horsemen appear to be riding white horses; not the Steed from the tourney. (Might be a retcon, since Silver Covenant Guardians near the Pavillion are using the Quel'orei Steeds, and were introduced in a later patch.)

These are facts. Do what you will with them.--Blayaden (talk) 14:26, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
