Or maybe his name was just meant to recall the fire and burnings he can hurl as a dragon.-- (talk) 00:45, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanx for catching that. I'm not sure who thought monkeys were slightly relative. 05:11, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Doc, the reason the trivia was removed is not because it wasn't interesting, but because it wasn't relative. Singe is clearly named after the English word meaning "to burn slightly". Black Dragons are often given firey, destructive names. Another example could be Somnus, Somnus is Latin for sleep, something green dragons are known for and thus why it was given that name. In some other foreign language Somnus may mean dog, or may be a local delicacy, but it's not relevant to a member of the green dragonflight. Clearly this black whelp was not named after the French word for monkey, the only thing the reader takes from the trivia is an unrelated French lesson, and this is wowwiki not frenchwiki. Now if Brann Bronzebeard's pet monkey was named Singe you might have been on to something because clearly then blizzard would have named it after the French term.
Also don't yell in caps, or make baseless accusation. Won't make you a lot of friends here.08:48, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- Right. I must confess that I was lured to this page because of the Frenchy sound of his name, not knowing exactly why (I happen to be French). But I couldn't see the exact link between Singe and a monkey.-- (talk) 17:15, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
