Limit to mail? Edit

Anyone know if there's a set limit to the number of pieces of mail you can receive before your box is full? And better question, what happens to the mail after that point - particularly auction mail?

--Legaia 03:15, 3 July 2006 (EDT)

  • Only 7 pages of mail is visible; mail beyond this point still exists but won't be retrievable until some of the mail in the first seven pages is deleted. -- Duodecimal 04:13, 3 July 2006 (EDT)

We probably need to provide locations of mailboxes in every city.

Changed Return button function description to more accurately reflect its use. Mail can still be returned if both an item and money were attached to it. If you take only one of these things, you may return the remaining attachment to the sender. Also moved the Delete button to its own line for clarity and consistency.

  • I find that with mails just containing items, one or other of the 'Return' and 'Delete' buttons appear, but not both, seemingly at random. Anhyone know why this is?

does anyone know WHY the 1 hour delay on emailing items was instituted?

Goblin, not gnome Edit

I noticed that in the What Mailboxes Look Like section, the goblin mailbox (with the big envelope on a spring) was labelled as being gnomish. Even the name of the image has 'goblin' in it. I ordinarily would just go ahead and change it myself, but apparently the little table is a quick command (with the "{{}}" ) called "mailboxes", and I have no idea how to alter that. • I fixed it for you. You can alther templates by going to the bottom of the page and clicking Template:Mailboxes, although i Highly sigest you leave them alone if you don't know what your doing, cause you may cause problems on some pages. Masshuu - Talk/Work 22:46, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Where Can Mail Go - Where Can it Not Go? Edit

I know that mail cannot be sent 'cross-faction' (no Horde/Alliance love letters). Are there any other restrictions? Across servers ok? How about across PvE to PvP servers, or RP to non-RP servers? Servers in same time zones? Can you send mail to be picked up in 'hostile' territories? Do tell... --Thescale99 18:58, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Mail doesn't go across servers. I believe mailboxes are tied to horde/alliance faction, so eg a dwarf can't get mail from the Orgrimmar mailbox (but mailboxes at neutral places like Ratchet can be used by all). That's based on a memory of not being able to use the Gnomeregan mailbox as horde (might be remembering wrong). -- Harveydrone ( talk | work ) 19:29, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
I know this thread is a little old, but I happened across it while Googling for mailbox info so thought I'd update for other searchers. And I can confirm that mailboxes are bound to their allegiance. So Alliance, for example, cannot use Horde mailboxes. (Just tried Camp Mojache's as a NE Druid).
Very old post but worth updating. You CAN send mail cross servers now but only BoA items. 00:48, December 6, 2014 (UTC)

Mailing items for enhancement purposes Edit

Okay, newbie question (started playing quite recently). If, let's say, I happen to have an alt on the same server and same faction who knows Enchanting, can my main mail him a weapon/piece of armor (I'd assume that hasn't been soulbound yet) for the alt to enchant, then the alt sends it back to the main?
