I've been leveling a warlock for a bit now (35) and I've tried drain-tanking and void-tanking. The benefits seem to be heavily on the void. CoA, Corr, Imm, Life Tap, Drain Life, Drain Soul currently kills even mobs, zero downtime. Higher ones need a few shots from the wand. There's a 90% chance of the void keeping the aggro as well, if there are no resists. The only way I can see drain tanking working before 50 is if you load up on +dmg (hard to find pre BC for the most part), otherwise the mobs simply hit too hard to keep up.--Asmiroth 17:57, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

I agree the succubus only works best against humanoid mobs but is worthless any other way. The voidwalker is still good for a long while if you use the aggro meter to monitor the damage you deal to prevent it from going after you. Using a macro to do CoA, Corruption, Immolation, Drain Life, Life Tap, Shoot kills mobs of +2 levels above you pretty quick,

I just hit 34 with my warlock, and things have been going great for me since I hit 30 and spec'd for Siphon Life. I started following this guide to a T from level 1, and was really struggling to keep my mana up. Finally, I diverged from the guide a bit in a couple of places (though really, it intentionally leaves a lot open for adjustments). I have a Glyph of Corruption, and didn't put anything into Nightfall, but I rarely if ever use it when Shadow Trance procs. Instead, I'm geared in either Shadow Wrath or +spelldmg (with +Int/+Sta second priority), and put my talent points into Improved CoA and Empowered Corr. I drain-tank with the Succubus, but I skip Immolate altogether. My rotation is basically: Pet Attack, Corr, CoA (or sometimes CoT if a caster), Fear (if needed, and if so will have done CoA first), Life Tap (if at full health), spam Drain Life (and Life Tap if needed), and finish off with Drain Soul. I haven't had any problems with mobs 2-3 levels higher of any variety, and almost always end up with full or near-full health and mana (I'm also a BElf, so I get some help from Arcane Torrent, too); it's only a question of how many times I have to use Drain Life. I'd probably get massacred in PVP (which I suck at anyway), or I might have to change things later on if stuff starts getting tougher, but right now I'm laughing.Wqoq (talk) 11:26, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Levels 50-59 - Felguard spec link wrong Edit

Re. Section 7 Levels50-59

The Demonology build option for use with Felguard links to Wohhead here:-

but this is an incomplete build, having only 18 talent points allocated, and gets nowhere near the Summon Felguard spell it is referring to. Kozmyk (talk) 15:12, July 12, 2009 (UTC)

Lvl 50-59 Fellguard build wrong Edit

The Level 50-59 section has recently been updated but the Felguard build, to which it refers in part, still only shows 18 talent points allocated. I found this confusing when I was levelling and I'm sure others will too. I stayed Affliction till my 70's when I Dual-Spec'ed and added Destruction, avoiding Demonology/Felguard altogether. Due in no small part to this oversight. Kozmyk (talk) 12:14, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Glyphs Edit

I appreciate the time that went into creating this leveling guide. I would also appreciate including into it a discussion of what glyphs to get after obtaining Glyph of Corruption. Jathelbur (talk) 14:18, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

I've done a major overhaul to this guide based on the Cataclysm changes. A lot of the previous article dealt with where to spend your talents as you level up, which doesn't much apply anymore since you're locked into one tree at a time. So, though I took a lot of concepts from the previous author, I also rewrote this page almost entirely. In addition, I focused on the abilities you get and how to use them, and also on the attitude you should have when approaching leveling a warlock, in favor of specific spell rotations or areas to go. It's not finished yet, and it needs some severe attention to wikification, but please don't wait for me to finish it in order to make your own edits.Intentions (talk) 22:48, February 10, 2011 (UTC)
