It has been stated, that surger don't charge if everybody stays within 8 yrd range of the surger. I have to admit that I never noticed that due to the fact that it seems nearly impossible to have 40 people to stay within an 8 yard radius around a surger (/wave at hunters). The problem is, that IF one of the raidmember gets OUTSIDE this range, the next charge hit 40 people, and, if you are really unlucky, spreads the raid just enough for the surger to charge again - and hit more than 50% of the raid again... such situations can wipe newbies very easy...--Thundor 03:07, 20 June 2006 (EDT)

From everything I've seen, the surger will still surge even with everyone grouped up. But as Thundor mentions, it's pointless to let the entire raid get hit by this. The best approach I've seen is to have one person designated to take the surge. This person is responsible for either hitting the surger from range or melee attacking and then moving away. The surger will always pick the person who is farthest away to surge to, and that surge will hit everyone within about a 5-10 yard range of that person. If the designated person is far enough away from the main raid, the surger will rush to hit them (and only them) for 1000, completely bypassing anyone who happens to be between the main tank and this person. He'll then immediately return to the main tank. --Xero 14:10, 08 November 2006 (CST)
