Totally named after khaza 'dum from lotr. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cormundo (talkcontr). 15:54, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Yep, seems like it. Also Khaz'Goroth reminds of Tolkien's Aulë. Alagion (talk) 21:07, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Population Edit

So, this page mentions that Khaz Modan is basically synonymous with the Kingdom of Ironforge. Both pages show the territories are the same as the territories of Ironforge, but with wildly different populations. The human population goes from less than 1000 to 10000, the Wildhammer population goes from just over 1000 to 12000, the Gnomes from 2800 to 10000, the Ironforge dwarves from 28000 to 50000. Where are we getting these numbers on the Khaz Modan page from? And if the Khaz Modan page is accurate, then shouldn't the Kingdom of Ironforge page be updated to reflect this as well? —This unsigned comment is by 68.169.245.134 (talkcontribs) 11:44, January 28, 2017. 1. Populations are usually from the RPG which is a dubious source (basically some dude pulled numbers out of...).
  2. Khaz Modan is the historical region populated primarily by dwarves before they started interacting with outside people (other than gnomes, maybe) and before the emergence of the dominant Kingdom of Ironforge. So, Khaz Modan has less humans, less Wildhammer (they mostly come from the Hinterlands and Twilight Highlands, but had a contingent in Grim Batol for a time), less gnomes (they were mostly in Gnomeregan), and less Ironforge dwarves (they were less dominant and had to compete with Dark Irons in Grim Batol).
So, the population changes aren't that important and otherwise sort of reflect point #2. Does that make sense? --Gengar orange 22x22 Fandyllic (talk · contr) 2 Feb 2017 12:28 PM Pacific
