Rift?

At the bottom?
That doesn't sit with the end of Warcraft III where it zooms out on arthas, sitting on the frozen throne, at the very TOP of Icecrown Citadel.

- This still doesn't make sense to me. If the entire tower is at the bottom of a rift, then why do all pictures (including the login screen) show a tower coming from the ground and going up into the air? Aliron (talk) 03:47, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- The rift is so large that when you're inside, you wouldn't be able to tell it's a rift at all. You literally can't see from one end all the way to the other, it's that massive. At least, that's what the implications seemed to be. WoWWiki-Suzaku (talk) 06:49, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Opening this up again, is the 'rift' the Icecrown Glacier or the underground pit seen in the TFT undead campaign? The spire that is the Frozen Throne was in a closed-roof room before Arthas and Illidan exposed it. When the tower was exposed, was whatever the rift was still there, or ruined? Icecrown in a Patch?
Will The Icecrown Citadel be opened in wotlk patch like like black temple did in the burning crusade. It would Be cool if meeeting the lich king would be the last anyone do before next expansion like it was with kil'jaeden in bc.-LKHighlord 15:51,19 April 2008 (UTC)

Boss?
Well, except the Lich King the only boss I presume is there is the frost wyrm lady-queen-thing. But.. "During the battle for the Wrath Gate, Saurfang the Younger falls to the Lich King, his soul claimed by Frostmourne, " Anyone know WHY? :O Ofel
Not sure what you're asking here but he has fallen because he rushed headlong into the enemy ranks, trying to take down the Lich King himself. His axe was shattered and he was slain. His soul has been claimed because such is the nature of Frostmourne. If your question hasn't been answered, then try to rewrite it. Dragola (talk) 12:37, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
I noticiated that too. After Saurfang Jr dies the Lich King claims his soul with the frostmourne, maybe we'll see his soul imprisioned on the future and he'll be a boss. That would be good though, the horde really need more meaning to be on northrends even with all the additional story they're actualy not even close to the alliance on matter of reasons to be there and that is jsut retardad Azahel (talk) 13:07, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Here's my list of possible bosses for this instance, in order:
- A Nerubian as the first boss in the instance.
- Bolvar Fordragon and Saurfang the Younger in a two boss encounter.
- Sindragosa flying around overlooking the Frozen Throne.
- Lich King atop the Frozen Throne.

My possible Boss list (It needs to be long, there are too many short dungeons and raids now):
- Anub'arak: He's been everywhere else it seems...
- Salanar the Horseman and Orithos the Sky Darkener: Thats right, they survived the Enclave.
- Dar'khan Drathir: Come on people, its Dar'khan.
- Amnennar the Coldbringer: Everybody's favorite pig-breeder is back.
- Bolvar Fordragon and Saurfang the Younger: Yes, they're back from the Wrathgate.
- Some Geist: There are no geist bosses... there need to be.
- Darkmaster Gandling and Ras Frostwhisper: School is in session! AGAIN!
- Sindragosa and Lich King: Battle Arthas as he rides Sindragosa.
- Lich King: Sindragosa falls, weakening Arthas enough to give you a shot at killing him once and for all. Skulkerart (talk) 02:51, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
I think we're basing too much on lore: it is possible between the bosses some old ones could came, but i doubt that Dar'khan would appear again (wasn't he in meaning to betray Arthas?) or Darkmaster Gandling. It is possible that Blizzard will create a few new bosses, and add Kel'thuzad (i'm pretty sure he will return). But, like the Black Temple or the Sunwell, there will be new characters and not many lore-based bosses;Also i agree with Bolvar and Saurfang as bosses.Malygos Helper (talk) 12:15, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

- Muradin has never wanted to kill the Lich King so I think that would be pretty quirky that a little history-nerdy dwarf would finish off the pandemonius of this expansion. I do not yet know who's the great Avenger of the Lich King. Maybe Dalaran leaders? --

Well, I think the helper boss will be Tirion, but i also believe that it'll be kind of like a four way boss fight, with Sindragosa vs Alexstrasza, Rhonin vs Shade of Kel'Thuzad, Highlord Darion Mograine leading the fight against Scourge forces trying to help their leader. and Highlord Tirion Fordring vs The Lich King with the 40 man raid split up into 4 groups, each group helping a different boss. That's my belief. - Battm7 O.O
- That does sound like a cool idea, but I don't think Blizzard would put all the bosses together like that. I think Blizz also said that they wouldn't make any more 40-man raids, because such high volumes of players have difficulty working together. Tazmantdr Talk Contr. 15:53, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
As for the helper boss for the Lich King himself, there are many characters who have pasts with Arthas and/or reasons to kill him personally: Muradin Bronzebeard, Sylvanas Windrunner, Jaina Proudmoore, Varian Wrynn, Tirion Fordring, Darion Mograine, or even Richard A. Knaak's Crowd (Rhonin, Vereesa Windrunner, Korialstrasz.) Magni Bronzebeard and Thrall also have reasons to kill him, but are unlikely to go to Northrend for it.
I think it's probably going to be Tirion and/or Darion, involving the Ashbringer. However I personally think It would be cooler if it was King Varian.
I don't read the comics, but from what I've seen of them, he's battling hard in Northrend already. He grew up with Arthas, and would have been greatly affected by the death of King Terenas, who was essentially a father to him. He also would be vengeful after the death of Bolvar, which seems pretty significant since Varian already appears to be pretty bloodthirsty and gung-ho. After being dropped into the game when WotLK was released, it wouldn't be surprising if he had such a significant role.
