I've been looking for this data on the wiki and can't find it either. I initially looked in Herbs, but also think it'd be appropriate here. Do all resources have the same spawn time algorithm? Maybe it should be mentioned on Resource or in Professions. --Radeex (talk) 03:36, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

On the pages that exist for an individual herb (briarthorn) there is a list of pickable locations with percentages after them. I believe this requires an explanation of what they mean and a statement or citation explaining where the information was got from. Could someone (preferably the person who added it in the first place) please put that information in? DuTempete (talk) 15:56, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

:I was the one who did that for most of the herbs. It was the thottbot sightings data at the time it was created. Note that the object you click on to herb is different data from the herb that appears in your inventory. is the briarthorn data for example and was a straight copy/paste. However the numbers I listed were a quick and dirty way of coming up with the percentages since it's thottbot sightings and not the absolute for the zone. (I thought it was the absolute number at the time, and not weighted by popularity. Unpopular zones skew the % results, when really it shoudn't as it's not a chance but an absolute.)

:There are only X number of spawn locations total for resource nodes like herbs. A better way is to take each zone # of spawn locations (which isn't the same as drops) and divided it by the total # across all zones = % by zone. This is a known number and available on wowhead and doesn't change. (Briarthorn again ). I wanted to include all this info at the time, but I didn't know how to make a chart on a wiki. It looked too messy any way I could do it, so I used the simplified info. Since then I've learned (and now forgotten) how to make wiki charts. I agree that adding the number of possible spawns by zone is useful information, but I will not be the one adding that info.

:Hmm I just had an idea. Instead of "Pickable Zones" come up with a more informative title and include the total number of spawn locations for all of Azeroth for each herb. Example: "This herb has (X) spawn locations, they are in:" Then if someone cares how many spawns are specifically in Duskwood for example, they can multiply (X) by the listed percentage.--Brunpal (talk) 12:57, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Spawn Time of Herbs

Can someone please add information about the respawn time for herbs? --Somebody

Strike that. I tried it for a minute, and it looked terrible. -- D. F. Schmidt talk 15:33, 22 Aug 2005 (EDT)

I think it would be hot if we could have a table like so:

Herb Orange at Yellow at Green at Grey at Found in
Herbname 25 50 75 100 Hinterlands,
Hillsbrad
Otherherb 125 150 175 200 EPL,
Silithus

If someone has the data I will make the table myself. - Zuel 22:08, 15 March 2006 (EST)

Bloodvine

I understand that this drops in ZG, but Herbalism required to harvest this? To the best of my knowledge this requires only a special scythe and therefore may not fall under the herbalism category. Any thoughtd or further information? Moosephat 14:17, 21 April 2006 (EDT)

Yes, it does require Herbalism. Bloodvine doesnt grow by itself. Rather it is parasitic, meaning that you find it within other herb nodes. Swiftthistle works the same way. - Azh 15:32, 21 April 2006 (EDT)

The Inv misc herb 09 [Bloodvine] and Inv weapon shortblade 29 [Blood Scythe] articles should answer your question, Moosephat.

Herb Table

Starting the above mentioned table... doing it in the 'background' for editing til more data is entered...

I Wont put in the herb locations, IMO there are way too many to list in a table of this fashion... Peacebloom, for example, is in about 12? areas.. at least...

# = Swiftthistle "piggy backs" on Briarthorn and Mageroyal, you can obtain it when you can pick Briarthorn or Mageroyal

## = Wildvine, like swiftthistle, if found inside Purple Lotus patches

### = Bloodvine is a Raid-level herb, its only found in Zul'Grub when a Blood Scyth is equiped, and is found inside other Herbs within the zone.

* = Black Lotus is extremely rare and hard to find. It requires 300 herbalism skill and is still hard to pick (will get a failed attempt now and then), the Herbalism enchant will reduce failure rates on this and other herbs. --Kewi 15:37, 7 July 2006 (EDT)

Herb percentages

On the pages that exist for an individual herb (Inv misc root 01 [Briarthorn]) there is a list of pickable locations with percentages after them. I believe this requires an explanation of what they mean and a statement or citation explaining where the information was got from. Could someone (preferably the person who added it in the first place) please put that information in? DuTempete (talk) 15:56, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

I was the one who did that for most of the herbs. It was the thottbot sightings data at the time it was created. Note that the object you click on to herb is different data from the herb that appears in your inventory. [1] is the Inv misc root 01 [Briarthorn] data for example and was a straight copy/paste.
There are only X number of spawn locations total for resource nodes like herbs. A better way is to take each zone # of spawn locations (which isn't the same as drops) and divided it by the total # across all zones = % by zone. This is a known number and available on wowhead and doesn't change. (Briarthorn again [2]). I wanted to include all this info at the time, but I didn't know how to make a chart on a wiki.
