Artifact[]

Technically the "Hierloom" has not replaced the "Artifact" if you are counting GM items. If you are just counting in-game status then it would seem they have, although those GM items are still called Artifact and not Hierloom items correct? Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 09:19, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

No Longer Require Champion's Seals[]

You can buy pretty much any non-resilience gear from Enchanter Erodin. They cost the same number of emblems, but without the Champion's Seals.--Twistdshade (talk) 23:29, January 13, 2010 (UTC)

They were always available from the Emblem of Heroism vendor in Dalaran for Heroisms. Just it was less costly to farm champion seals for them pre-4.0. Nessari (talk) 01:58, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Heirlooms do not replace Artifacts[]

I was under the impression that heirlooms were distributable to any character on your account: Binds to Account. They scale by level making it easier for you to level up your alts. In this regard, heirlooms do not replace Artifacts.

Quality[]

Technically, Heirlooms do not sound to me like the new "highest quality" item. Aren't they different than any of the other colors? Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 12:12, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

They're not the highest quality. They're a very special quality of item. They grow with you, and remain about the level of a blue.

Enchantments?[]

What happens if you put an enchant on a weapon and then send it to a much lower level alt character? The item level as far as I can tell is 1, so you probably could put some very hefty enchants on these and then send them to level 1 characters, right? Moleculor (talk) 22:11, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Heirlooms always count as level 1 items in all respects. So if the enchant or enhancement has a level pre-req then you wont be able to use it on the haeirloom. Cruentuz (talk) 00:26, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
All of this is now reflected in the article, as well of a short list of enchants to use on your heirlooms. Removed the stub flag since this article is now looking beefy. - Crystufer (After 2 hours of editing article.)
I see that the zandalar shoulder enchants were removed from this list. The user responsible said it was tested. Was this tested first hand or by a friend of a friend? Because my zandalar shoulder enchants are less than a month old. - Crystufer 7/4/09
Zandalar signets have been removed from this list twice, and I've reverted them twice. I won't revert them again. If you guys honestly believe that they should be excluded simply because they have an item level requirement, then so be it. But I think that they should be on there since they have the lowest required level of all the enchants that actually work on the shoulders, and are darned effective, too. Also, if they are to be left off because they have a required level, a strong argument can be made that no scopes should be listed either. These are the things people come here to see, so I think they should just go all on. If anything, list every enchant and remove the for space's sake thing. I was just being lazy that day. - Crystien
I have spent lots of time testing shoulder enchants, and have found that all enchants able to be put on shoulders have level requirements (to take effect). From what I can see, argent dawn has some "worthless" ones that give resists at level ~50, and Zandalar gives spell power or attack power at 55. The Inscription ones cannot be used till 65 and the PVP ones cant be used till 70. I found that none of the Aldor/Scryer/Hodir enchants seem to be able to be applied. I also found that zandalar does work, as mine are less than a week old, and no patches have come out recently. My reccomedation for anyone who wants to optamize their enchant - Go zandalar, and if the character being leveled is an inscriptionist, they put their enchant on it once they can. Sraw (talk) 19:21, June 6, 2010 (UTC)
I don't know why it wasn't working for the above poster, but Aldor/Scryer enchants have always worked on heirloom shoulders for me. They just require 64/70 for regular and Greater enchants respectively. Nessari (talk) 02:00, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
Addendum: Yes I have been using them on heirlooms since the above post date, quite a bit before in fact.Nessari (talk) 02:03, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Recruit-a-Friend?[]

Does the heirloom xp bonus stack with the Recruit-a-Friend triple xp? Achinfish (talk) 00:46, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Yes. I recently created a account with recruit-a-friend and transferred one of my characters with the shoulders over to it and I can confirm that I get 10% more xp when killing a mob with the shoulders on then my friend gets. Ifandbut (talk) 19:02, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Heirloom chests are available for badges on the PTR[]

Unless this is gonna be changed the chests are available for badges on the PTR instead of argent totkens. --Essmene (talk) 14:01, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Just checked the PTR. All Heirloom items are both available in Dalaran for badges as well as for argent of dawn items in the pavillion. The prices do vary. It seems that the argent prices are ~ 1/3 higher. -- Essmene (talk) 14:28, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Stat discrepencies[]

I don't know where the links are from, but the speed on the Upgraded Dwarven Hand Canon are wrong. It appears as 2.7, should be 2.9. It's possible other items are off as well.

2 Weapons only with Champ Seals?[]

Under "Weapons, Accessories, Misc" it says: "Two new weapons were added that are only purchaseable with Champion's Seals. ".. I don't see any 2 heirloom items in that are "only" purchasable with Champion's Seals... am i blind? --Maverick (talk) 08:38, December 3, 2009 (UTC)

Looking at the page history I can see where that was true at one point, but it is no longer true. The article has been updated to clarify. -- Harveydrone 22:44, January 21, 2010 (UTC)

Class usages on items[]

I was wondering why certain items seem to be missing a usable class and others have strange level restrictions on their usefulness.

The Preened Ironfeather Breastplate oddly suggests it is only usable by Druids, while the non-spell leather chest lists 5 other classes as recieving some benefit from it, although in varying degrees. Shouldn't Preened Ironfeather Breastplate have (Shaman)and possibly even [Paladin] listed on it as well? Both classes benefit from Spirit and Spell Power (depending on spec) and I see no reason why this wouldn't be of some use to them, particularly Shaman.

I am also confused by the level ranges placed on some of the weapons. Why can Warriors only use a 1H between lvl (20-59), and the same with 2H for Shaman having the (1-40). Also, why are Shaman not even listed for possible users of Daggers and Staves? There may be something I am missing there, but found it curious.

Any help? HyperactiveSloth (talk) 16:05, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

Likely no one realized the above uses you suggest. You can add them. I believe the level indicators for warriors are due to the possibility at level 60 of dual-wielding two-handed weapons (thus making 1h weapons obsolete, in a sense), but I don't know for sure and haven't found out. Likewise for (some) shamans who can dual wield after 40 and won't find a 2H weapon as useful. Again, I don't know whether that's really true. -- Harveydrone 21:09, February 12, 2010 (UTC)

Inscription Shoulder Enchants[]

I have read multiple sources that claim that inscription shoulder enchants "will work on Heirlooms shoulders at any level", yet have also read "it does not work unless you have inscription with 400 skill". If both of these are true, then the statement should be (at the very least) that Inscription Shoulder enchants have a hidden level requirement of 65. In any case, the results from this should be noted if discovered. Sraw (talk) 12:39, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

You can put an inscription's shoulder enchant on an item of any level; however, if you put that enchant on a heirloom and give it to a brand new character, the tooltip for that item will indicate that "Enchantment Requires Inscription (400)". Efernandez 98 (talk) 04:20, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
I am going to go ahead and edit that statement then. Sraw (talk) 14:04, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

Greater Inscription of the Gladiator[]

Hey, I removed that item from the list, User:Un1t3D added it again. I might have a case myopia going, but if I look at that item (on Alliance side at Quartermaster Biggins in Stormwind), the description says "...causes it to become soulbound". Is that a bug I am falling for? Should I add a screenshot? To clear this up Tierlieb (talk) 13:36, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

I believe that several enchantments will claim that they soulbound the item, but wont if it is a heirloom item. To clear this up you would need to display that using this inscription will make it completely soulbound and unable to be transferred/used between characters normally able to use heirlooms. Sraw (talk) 14:04, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
Verified that items with shoulder enchants that 'cause an item to become soulbound' do not cause heirlooms to bind to just one character - I tested it with [Master's Inscription of the Axe] but it should work with any of the shoulder enchants by logical extension. Farindras (talk) 10:41, May 9, 2010 (UTC)
Don't use the {{item}} template to link non-items. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 20:55, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

Heirloom vs. BoA[]

This page lists every single item in the game that is Bind on Account; as far as I know, heirlooms are specifically only the equipment that scales with character level. Otherwise there's no point in having separate Heirloom and Bind on Account pages. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 17:36, June 24, 2010 (UTC)

Soon this will be remedied as Cataclysm will ship with many Archaeology items which are BoA but do not scale. JoshuaRodman (talk) 17:16, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

Justice Point Pricing?[]

Many of the PvE items on this page are listed as costing 348 Justice Points, but in-game they cost 2175 justice points. Is there a reason for this major error? Chromabyte (talk) 13:54, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

  • It's a wiki. If something's wrong, correct it. - LucidFox (talk) 02:54, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
  • Corrected. Thorax (talk) 02:07, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Level Cap[]

There is no mention in the page that certain Heirloom items will stop working at level 80.

Further, 'stop working' doesn't seem to be well defined. Does that mean the stats stop improving, that the experience bonus is disabled, that the entire item ceases to provide benefit to the player or some combination thereof? Ryeann (talk) 20:49, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

"An heirloom's stats correspond to the item level of a blue quality item requiring its wearer's level, except that for cloak and helm heirlooms, the stats stop increasing at level 80." --g0urra[T҂C] 20:53, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
Ah, missed that entirely despite reading the whole page multiple times. Still no mention of the XP bonus no longer working - which I presume is the case? Ryeann (talk) 22:33, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Name color change[]

This page still lists Heirlooms as having yellow names, which is also still seen in all the item tooltips. However, as of 4.2, they have all been changed to white. JordanTH (talk) 06:10, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Well, patch has only be live a very very short time, give us a chance to fix things. Thanks for bringing this up... I myself didn't even notice that. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 06:27, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
According to Known Issues, appearing white is a bug. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 06:35, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Send[]

Maybe a dumb question but... how to send heirlooms from a horde character to an alliance character? I tried through the mail but it says that target is unfriendly :/ --Mordecay (talk) 19:42, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Don't think we can yet. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 23:49, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
Never mind :D Firstly I tried to send heirlooms and golds and it did not worked. Now I tried to send only heirlooms and it is working! :D --Mordecay (talk) 08:58, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

Enchanting your Heirlooms[]

As we now can enchant any item with anything listed in the Enchantments by Slot article, I feel we should remove data listed in the Heirloom Article and instead have a general note at the top of the page saying "To enchant your heirlooms, see enchantments by slot article". Otherwise it seems wasteful to duplicate information. Sraw531 (talk) 23:50, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Does anyone else have an opinion? I for one think the enchantments are a waste of space on this article. Sraw531 (talk) 06:50, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

query re: Bindings and Enchantments[]

"Heirlooms can be enchanted only with enhancements that will not bind the item to the character. All enchantments can be applied to heirloom items."

Do these two sentences contradict each other, can't get my head round it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Belfastbiker (talk · contr).

I think the restriction is for profession and rep-locked enhancements. I don't believe there are enchants that are enchanter only anymore. --Aquamonkeyeg (talk) 22:58, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
