Yes, you may... (discussion moved from Talk:Cockatrice) Edit

Post images of real cockatrices! I've been waiting to say that a while :) -- Kirkburn (talk) 15:49, 12 October 2006 (EDT)

Actually they're Hawkstriders now... so we'll need to move this page I think. -- Jaxdahl 15:56, 12 October 2006 (EDT)
Yargh! -- Kirkburn (talk) 16:00, 12 October 2006 (EDT)
Errm, are we waiting for an official announcement, or should we just go ahead and move the page now and start replacing 'cockatrice' with 'hawkstrider' throughout WoWWiki? --Kakwakas 22:37, 13 October 2006 (EDT)
Before any replacing is to be done, it needs to be official. We shouldn't get hasty from just one screenshot. On the other hand, I don't think it would be objected to create a page such as Cockatrice to mention that the Hawkstrider is more than likely going to be the official mount. Sam Weber 22:43, 13 October 2006 (EDT)
There is a confirmation via screenshots though that the Dragonhawk is a Hunter Pet. If it is a flying mount or not is still up in the air. I've updated the Dragonhawk section to show case one of the screenshots and the article in the Beta Forums from which it came from. --Drakonluther 23:58, 14 October 2006 (EDT) /cough AzraelOpacus 01:18, 17 October 2006 (EDT)
Hawkstriders are as official as they're going to get. I'm in the beta, I've seen people riding them. I've got some shots of the mount to upload, as well. I really think this page should be merged with the Hawkstrider page. --DarkRyder 13:15, 17 October 2006 (EDT)

I've moved the cockatrice content over now. -- Kirkburn (talk) 13:40, 17 October 2006 (EDT)

Is it just me or do these things look like Chocobos on LSD? --Jaymo 12:12, 18 October 2006 (EDT)

They actually look a lot like dragonhawks, so I guess they fit in the WarCraft universe. --DarthMuffin 13:30, 21 October 2006 (EDT)

-Firelord- lol! In my head they look like a Final Fantasy Chocobo but in blue. I really like those chicken! XD Actualy makes me think of the flying black chocobo's --Midnight08 09:41, 12 February 2007 (EST)

Pigmy cockatrice Edit

"Fortunately the blood elf mount is not a larger version of this :-)" Well, it actually is ! Just with different colors, the hen is mereley different from the Hawkstriders we know ;-).

Seriously. As the mount is no longer called "Cockatrice" I think we can remove everything regarding the "cockatrice" term, meaning the two pics and stuff.--K ) (talk) 13:53, 1 November 2006 (EST)

True, it's no longer called a cockatrice - but it's still inspired from the legendary creature, the cockatrice. -- Kirkburn (talk) 13:59, 1 November 2006 (EST)
Cockatrice still refers to the chicken, so we can keep an article up for that. ;) As for the Hawkstriders, "Kweh!"Baggins
The mount of BE in Wc3 was Dragon Hawk, and those were flying.---Firelord- 17:19, 4 January 2007 (EST)

They are apparently related though.Baggins 13:37, 11 January 2007 (EST)
Lol @ the chocobo referance... (The onomatopoeia for a chocobo's call is "Kue" (クエ) in the original Japanese versions and is sometimes transliterated as "Kweh" in the English translation, or alternately replaced by "Wark.") thats the same thing i thought the 1st time i saw them... Level 36 almost there (that probably would be considered a bit slow, but this is my 1st char so not bad... and i have 200g saved up so far so i'll have it as soon as i hit 40) --Midnight08 09:40, 12 February 2007 (EST)

I loath this dumb evil chocobo mount designed to cater to the final fantasy punk kids. The dev who put them in needs to be fired without severance, in fact he should have to pay for the administration costs of processing his firing. I'm gonna get a wolf mount, happy in the knowledge I dont look like a complete plonk. --Nurizeko

First of all...if you're playing a blood elf, good luck with not looking "like a complete plonk."

Secondly...big deal. Draenei got shoopufs, so why shouldn't blood elves get chocobos? IconSmall Draenei Female Farseer Loloteatalkcontrib 05:23, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Chocobo Edit

I'd think it would be hilarious if (on April 1) blizzard added a client side sound effect everytime the player mounts up on one of these. The sound of course would be that of the theme song to the Final Fantasy chocobos. User:Coobra/Sig2 04:38, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

It'd be equally hilarious when they got sued as a result. Tee hee. -Indium 21:11, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Viewed White Hawkstrider on Lightbringer Edit

I couldn't catch the gnome fast enough for a screenshot but I can confirm seeing a White Hawkstrider in Iron Forge on LB. Solid white and much prettier than the ones the Blood Elves ride, especially with a small white-haired gnome riding it. A pity gnomes weren't given these instead of Mechanostriders(aka Farting Chickens) in the first place.

I can only ASSUME it is a reward or drop from QD like the Phoenix Hatchling from Magister's Terrace. Hopefully, someone else, especially someone who knows the owner can post a shot of the bird soon.

Just a side note but, if it's any help, we were currently at 87% of Phase 2. I don't know if that gave us access to the 25-man raid as yet or not.

Nelf70LB 23:28, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Then that info can go on your server page updates, seeing as posting that here doesn't help in the slightest bit. User:Coobra/Sig3 00:31, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
