Hopefully italisizing the word 'can' didn't piss off too many of you guys. I was being a generalist, I know, and I purposly was. As a rogue though, I rarely get surpassed on the damage bars, and if I do, most of the time it's by a mage, or another rogue.

Yes yes, I have been outdamage by a 'lock (actually, humiliated) in UBRS, but that's about it.

Locks usually dont surpass you unless they either AOE, like a mage, thus targetting more mobs, or by shadow vulnerably cursing everything and anything that isnt targetting them. also, because a curse lasts even after the lock dies, he will still get dps calculated in his name. Rogues are still better for sustained DPS, and you could go a LOT higher no doubt by simply dual wielding instant poisoned weapons and spamming blade flurry on everything and anything. but you'll want to stay alive as well ;) CJ 04:55, 22 Dec 2005 (EST)

Completely new rewrite of the whole article Edit

I was wondering that despite there are more than half of the players play as DPS, there was no proper page talked about this in details. (The old version of this page consisted only of a small paragraph of some nonsense.) Therefore, I spent a whole good week to write up this new page. Actually, it turned out to be longer than I expected, even though I had already tried my best to restrict it to only more important information. Well, there are just too many things about DPS one can talk about.

Anyway, please help improving the article (including grammatical mistakes). I have played a hunter, a mage and a rogue (as well as a pally tank) for a long time, so I can say I have a good amount of experience of playing as DPS. Nevertheless, my knowledge about those classes that I haven't played is limited. So feel free to add anything you think is important. (But better not too long. The article is already very long. :P )

I know some of the statements here maybe a bit controversial. All the things I wrote here have good theory behind, so if you want to change anything, please have good reasons and have some backup evidences.

It's very good, apart from the grammar. I'll see if I can find time to edit it for you, but in the meantime, how about taking a couple of hours a week out of playing WoW, and studying some English?

A lot of good info here, but yes, the grammar is atrocious. Would be nice if someone who knew trhe content better than me :) could rewrite it.

Mage Edit

It said in the Wow manual that the mage deals the highest damage and only the rogue can approach their dps. BobNamataki (talk) 10:51, November 10, 2009 (UTC)

That was the initial design philosophy, to which Blizzard still adheres: mages are supposed to be "glass cannons". Please note, though, that the original WoW manual is horribly outdated. It was written before all the expansions and 12 other content patches.IconSmall AmberrockAMBER(ЯΘ<K) 11:10, November 10, 2009 (UTC)
