One must remember that the Death Knight Hero Class has been stated multiple times to be an unlockable option for the creation of a new character. This sets a precident for future Hero Class deployment and can end all speculation of "this is a (insert class) Hero Class". Shannae 00:36, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Regarding the Pen and Paper RPG classes

  • Im just a bit confused, is there a reason that the Runemaster class is listed there, but classes such as Tinker, Fel-Sworn, and such from the PnP RPG isnt listed here? Ive read through the books listed classes a few times. I dont want to just submit it, for it may be violating the copyright laws to post it here. Also, the article on Archmage could also be an Arcanist of some sort, no?
The Runemaster is actually a viable class, the Fel-sworn is just a Warlock that specializes in giving himself demonic traits (i.e. Spell shadow ragingscream [Demon Skin]), and the Tinker is just an Engineer, and it IS listed here. Saimdusan 18:07, 4 December 2006 (EST)
The engineer is actually a seperate class from tinker in the rpg, but because of the WoW tinker profession its not likely they'd make engineers or tinkers seperate classes.
Actualy not all fel-sworn are warlocks. They can also be corrupted warriors, or other classes corrupted through dark magic.Baggins 07:28, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Runemaster Entry

  • Can anyone find any sources for the Runemaster entry? It looks like it was added about a month ago with no attribution save a link to a likewise unattributed WoWWiki article. If no one can provide any previous reference for this from a game, RPG, book, official website posting, offhand comment from Caydiem in the bathroom at Blizzcon, etc. then I propose we remove this section. It smacks of someone's fanfic imagination to me. --Brommon 16:51, 13 March 2006 (EST)
    • A more thorough googling on my part suggests this comes from the PnP RPGs somewhere, but as I'm not versed enough in that to know the right places to link to for sources, could someone who is familiar with the RPGs maybe give this some context? Right now the section reads more like a description of what a Runemaster is than why it might or might not be put into the game. What a Runemaster is belongs in the article on Runemasters; this page is for why certain classes might or might not be added to the game later.
      • OK, took it upon myself to at least move the existing information into its proper categories. --Brommon 14:53, 14 March 2006 (EST)

Hero Classes Subsection

  • The last two paragraphs of this read like a quote, and in fact I swear I've heard them before from an official post... can anyone find these and attribute them properly? The sudden shift in voice to addressing the reader directly is very jarring and makes our article sound more than a little patronizing. --Brommon 16:51, 13 March 2006 (EST)
    • Nevermind, I managed to track down an archive of the old Caydiem post this came from and have edited the page accordingly to attribute this quote. --Brommon 17:02, 13 March 2006 (EST)

What's possible?

What classic Warcraft classes would you most like to play in WoW? What possible classes are we missing? --Xmuskrat 14:05, 13 Jan 2006 (EST)

Classes vs. Hero Classes

Technically, we don't really know which of those classes will be regular and which will be hero. Does it make sense to "guess" or to give them equal footing until we know one way or another? --Xmuskrat 14:25, 13 Jan 2006 (EST)

I'm judging based on their role in the previous games. Doesn't mean we're claiming they're going to be the same in WoW. --Anticrash 14:29, 13 Jan 2006 (EST)
Though I'm much too late for this discussion - I for one think there's no sense trying to separate them. It's just causing unnecessary headaches for the page, especially in terms of trying to figure out the line between the identity of this page and that of the Hero Classes page itself. --Brommon 19:02, 25 April 2006 (EDT)
I agree. It shouldn't be seperated. Saimdusan
What I want to know is: "What will the Gnome Warrior Heros will be?" I mean honestly, they were almost nerfed, but they survived. I think it should be something cool like a techno warrior with a robot pet or something.

This is an old discussion, but the two idea pages have been split based off writer intent.--SWM2448 22:19, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Class Discussion

Blademaster

Blademaster is a warrior class based on energy. Combining the strength, cunning, fury of warriors and the elusiveness and agility of a rogue. A pure dps melee class with 2 handed specialization. Since Blademasters dont wear plate (Its too heavy for there speedy combat attacks and maneuver, most blademasters actaully wear leather) There armor capability should be set to mail highest. With much less armor and less defense abilities, truely reducing there survivbilty, the blademaster gains abilities of pure melee combat, enabling him/her to do huge damage in just single blows, with alot of critcal hits following after, they also recive windtalking. that makes them invisble over a short time, but with very fast speed.

--Wartank 14:05, 12 july 2006 (EST)

This sounds like a good idea, but a Berserker would be a less Hero-ish name. Also, the War3 Blademaster didn't even wear a shirt, maybe lowering him to cloth on account of how much damage he does? Wind Walking could possibly get them out of getting killed, so he can regen, so he wouldn't be too weak. Saimdusan

It seems a bit too close to a 2-hand weapon rogue, personally. (The armor level and stealth/windwalking being small differences.)Minionman 16:42, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Death Knight

I can see Death Knight being a sort of Warlock/Paladin hybrid. --Anticrash 14:12, 13 Jan 2006 (EST)

I can see that. Kind of an anti-paladin. --Xmuskrat 10:43, 24 Jan 2006 (EST)

Why does it say Death Knights are loyal to the Lich King? There is a death knight in WoW that is a servent to a dreadlord (despite the scourge and the legion no longer being allies), furthermore the Horde had death knights in the second war, in my mind a death knight will simply be a combination of warrior, (using plate armor, being to use almost all weapons etc.) warlock, (being able to summon minions, although a death knight would summon undead rather then demons) and mages (using magic to damage their enemies, although a death knights magic skills would probably be limited to shadow based skills). Hordesupporter 19:10, 2 February 2007 (EST)

I see death knight like a recoloured paladin/blood knight with just a small difference probably introduced If and When a scourg playable FACTION(not race) for their paldins. Anuragsahay 10:17, 23 April 2007 (EDT)

The current rumor is certainly churning a lot about this class, will see what's announced at BlizzCon Hawkspur 05:52, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Archmage

"It is possible, yet pure speculation, that once the magical city is completely rebuilt, players will be able to train as the Archmage hero class."

Cool speculation. --Xmuskrat 10:43, 24 Jan 2006 (EST)

Combinations For Hero Classes

I have some ideas for hero classes. With these ideas, I think a hero class would be combination of two classes. There are lots of way for that. But lets pass those ways. Because there are lots of ideas and discussion about hero classes, no need to write of my ideas. I tell a hero class could be a combination of two class. We talk about some classes like Warden or Demon Hunter but, these classes aren't seen much in Warcraft world. A shaman, a warrior, a mage is core of Warcraft, but a Warden isn't. They are much a type of special classes. So, they would be a "hero class" instead of a "new player class".

I would write my combination opinions for these classes, based upon the ideas above. Mountain King: Paladin/Warrior, Blood Mage: Warlock/Mage, Warchief: Warrior/Shaman, Shadow Hunter: Shaman/Hunter, Witch Doctor: Shaman/Priest, Far Seer: Shaman/Hunter, Spirit Walker: Shaman/Druid, Demon Hunter: Warlock/Rogue, Warden: Priest/Hunter, Archmage: Mage/Priest Ranger: Hunter/Rogue, Blademaster: Warrior/Rogue, Beastmaster: Hunter/Warrior --Bonecrusher 17:50, 6 Mar 2006 (EST)

I like this idea. And a player would only be able to become X combination if his race can be those classes. Like while a Tauren can be Hunters, they can't be Rogues, so no Rangers for them. Don't mind if I expand on this...
...
...
...
You know what, that's a lot harder than it seems... I had whole list made out, but it didn't make sense in a lot of places. As a result of this, I'm thinking that only certain classes would be able to combine. It very complicated to make combination for every class. I'll try and fine-tune my list, and hopefully post it again. --Adonzo 17:53, 12 May 2006 (EDT)
The big issue here mainly seems to be coming up with names for all the combinations. If both classes in the combination count equally (So a warrior that becomes the warrior/rogue class is the same as a rogue becoming a rogue/warrior class) you have 36 combination, unequal gives 72.
Also, how will ability combinations work? Would you plan to have the combo classes simply pick 3-4 skill trees or so and combine them, or would it be more complicated?Minionman 19:09, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Future Classes

One of the notable things about the standard classes currently in game is that they are simple. You could find classes like these in most RPGs. Aside from say, Monks, there really aren't many more simple, traditional classes that I can see being added as a standard class. Hero Classes, on the other, are where things start getting interesting, as it allows Blizz to break from the traditional.
I am of the opinion that this page should be rebuilt in a manner similar to the Rumored Races page. It would make much more streamlined, at any rate. --Adonzo 16:32, 12 May 2006 (EDT)

The following are my ideas on Hero Classes:
Necromancer - My original idea for this was that of a extension of the Shadow Priest. However, based on Warcraft lore, Necromancers seem to be extensions of Mages. In any case, the class would be like a cross between a Warlock, a Shadow Priest, and the Necromancer from Diablo 2. Some have suggested that this would be an Undead specific class, but I don't see why. Kel'Thuzad was still Human when he was a Necro, as are all the other Necromancers the Scourge currently employs.
Death Knight - Extension of the Warrior or Warlock class, and would be like a cross between a Warrior and a Warlock. Again, this was suggested as an Undead specific class, but the first Death Knight, Arthas, was Human, and is still Human (albeit, a kind of superhuman after merging with the Lich King). Death Knights, like Necromancers, were never required to be dead to serve the Lich King.
Demon Hunter - Extension of the Hunter class, with a focus on melee combat.
Warden - Extension of the Rogue class, it would a very highly mobile melee class (think crazy evasive maneuvers and no-cooldown Blink).
Archmage / Elementalist - Extension of the Mage class, it primary focus would be it's ability to summon Fire and Water elementals. Would also have powerful Fire and Frost spells.
Blademaster - Energy-based extension of the Warrior class. Mirror Images and Bladestorms, oh my!
Far Seer - Extension of the Shaman class. Would have Spirit Wolf minions, and be able to cause earthquakes and such.
Ranger - Energy-based extension of the Hunter class. Wouldn't have a pet, but would have stealth.
Beastmaster - Extension of the Hunter class, would have very powerful pets and/or multiple pets.
Lycanthrope - Extension of the Druid class, would be able to turn into half-man, half-beast forms like Werewolves or Werebears (like Druids from Diablo 2).
Spellbreaker - Extension of the Warrior or Mage class, would be a plate-wearing anti-caster. It would be loaded with abilities designed to help against casters, like spell-stealing, purging and interupt-attacks, but would be particularily weak against melee classes.
Shadow Hunter / Berserker - Extension of the Hunter or Rogue class, would have a focus on the horridly underused Throwing Weapons.
Battlemage - Extension of an Arcane Mage. Would be a melee focused mage, but still wear cloth, making it extremely fragile. Abilities would be loads of instant cast spells, knockback/knockdown attacks, no-cooldown blinks, etc, and time-spells like Slow.
Avenger - Extension of the Paladin class. This would be a powerful, dual-wielding melee class, with a large amount of damage-return abilities. Would sacrifice the Paladins survivability to give them that mythical "Pally DPS".
--Adonzo 17:09, 12 May 2006 (EDT)
Actually, nevermind. No one really knows what exactly hero classes are going to be, so this page can't really be rebuilt like the Rumored Races page. Ah well, I will continue my rampant speculation in the discussion.--Adonzo 17:15, 12 May 2006 (EDT)
I don't understand how on Earth Necro's can be Undead only. Seriously, if you are a zombie it is going to be pretty hard to make more zombies with some magic. And whats all this junk I hear about Necro's being part melee? That boggles the mind!

(Technically, the first Death Knight was actually an orc (see Teron Gorefiend) -Meloku

Steamwarriors?

I think steamwarriors should be on the list or at least a gnomish engineering hero class (if that is even possible) just a thought and i am definitely thinking of it to be a possiblity for a future class

I think its possible, finaly people will see us!Could be for gnomes and goblins if the become playable. That could be like a subclass for tinker too, with technomage and Bombardier!-User:Airiph/sig 15:40, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Like the race ideas.

Should we name this like future race ideas with the plus and the minus`s about the class for likelyhood?-User:Airiph/sig 15:44, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

As these classes don't exist in-game and are of more of a two-dimensional fashion than races, it is extremely difficult to organise them into any mutually agreeable order of likelihood. I think I like them the way they are. --User:Vorbis/Sig

Madrox' class ideas

NECROMANCER

  • Armor-Cloth, Leather
  • Weapons-1h swords, 1h maces, staffs, daggers, dual wield Starts with a 1h sword
  • Talents-Undead-using and summoning the Undead, Shadow- similar to the Warlock shadow, Cruelty-mostly DOT and High Crit attacks
  • Mounts-40. Wingless Black Dragon, 60. Wingless Armored Black Dragon

CRUSADER

  • Armor-Cloth, Leather, Mail, Plates, Shields
  • Weapons-Both types of swords, maces, axes, polearms and Guns, as well as duel wield Starts with a 2h sword, axe, or mace ( depending on race)and a gun
  • Talents- Holy, Marksmanship, Protection

RACES

  • NECROMANCER- Gnome, Troll, Blood Elf, Forsaken, Orc, and Human
  • CRUSADER- Human, Dwarf, Draenei, Forsaken, Blood Elf

If race has six classes, double click Warlock for Necromancer and double click paladin or priest (undead) for Crusader --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Madrox (talk · contr).

The Necromancer is already being implemented in a way as the "Death Knight" class, so little hope there. Also, the Crusader seems far too similar to the Paladin. --User:Vorbis/Sig 13:00, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Cleanup

I have to agree with some of M1330's edits - classes entirely unrelated to the world of Warcraft as we know it have to go. This is not a page for wild speculation. Kirkburn  talk  contr 15:29, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Some is the operative word with M1330. Baggins proposed a huge cleanup idea to make this like the other ideas pages a while ago. He wanted me to do it, but I never did because it seemed like a lot of work and I still have no idea where to get the information.--SWM2448 21:14, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

I agree there, while this certainly is a page where more speculation than normal is allowed there should certainly be some credit to a certain idea before it is included here. This is still an encyclopdedia, you cannot enter an assassin entry just because you would fancy a class using a 'sniper rifle', for example. The ideas page on races and the way it is structured and managed seems to guarantee an informative place for anyone who would like to be informed how to make an educated guess on what the next WoW race or class might be. And that is the sort of thing we want here. --Fransbal (talk) 23:26, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Shadow Hunters for Great Sea Expansion?

Sorry im noob to this site so i dont now how to sign my posts.

Anyway what about Shadow Hunters for the Great Sea? I think they are unique and fits in. All trolls capital is in the Great Sea. First i was thinking of Brewmasters but then understood that that would be silly and a bit to much alkohol in it.

This is a summary of my Shadow Hunter. Its another hybrid class.

Races - All. All hero classes can be all races. In the lore its says Shadow Hunters has spread to the rest of the races of the Horde. IN STV you can see human Kurzen Shadow Hunters.

Armor - Cloth & Leather Doesnt seem like they wear mail on the concept arts or in Wc3, and cloth seems to weak for them. Plus WoW has very few leather wearing classes. Only 2.

Weapons - Unarmed, Thrown, Glaive (new weapon type), Staff, 1h Sword (trainable), Dagger (trainable), Off-Hand (trainable)

Shadow Hunters uses spells and throwning weapons to kill their enemies. They use curses and special shots to slow them down and use Wards to assit them. If the enemy should reach the Shadow Hunter then he will finish them with his melee weapon.

Health/Mana bars - They use health and for the mana system im not sure. Any ideas? It mustb e somehting special and runes are already taken by Death Knights. Maybe they could gather spirits from dead enemies and use them to empower their abilities.

Main Stats: - Agility & Intellect Agility empowers the speed of throwing weapons and their damage. Intellect allows their spells to be stronger and their curses to last longer.

Talent Trees - Loa Power (Healing % Buffs), Voodoo Magic (Curses & CC) and Darkness (DPS)

Class Role - Healer, DPS, CC, Debuffer, Buffer Shadow Hunters are hybrid classes. They are not superior in anything but can have many diffrent roles. With the help of the Loa Power talent tree they will heal better and buff better. Darkness helps them to dps. Shadow Hunters deal shadow damage and some nature damage. Voodoo Magic works both in PvP and in dungeons. Its help them to CC and weaken their enemies with curses. For example the Shadow Hunter can cast "Hex" on a enemy, polymorping them. There is also another polymorph which allows the Shadow Hunter to attack it while polymorphed. They can also turn enemies into pets. In PvP they have lots of good curses. For example they can place a curse which reduces healing taken and drains 25% of the healing dealt to enemy to the Shadow Hunter.

Wards - Shadow Hunters has Wards which are very similar to the Shamans totem. Wards belongs to all talent trees. There are 3 difrent kind of Wards. Venegance Wards aka DPS Wards, Loa Wards aka Healing, Mana and Buff Wards and Voodoo Wards aka CC & Fun Wards. They will assist the Shadow Hunter in its many roles, since Shadow Hunters are not über in any roles he Wards helps them greatly. Fortunly, due the low dps they dont take much aggro.

Advantages - Can easly switch between diffrent roles, very fun to play, good for questing (can stealth and move faster in Serpent Form), have powerful curses and buffs to empower them, have Wards tol help them in their diffrent roles

Disadvantages - Not superior in any role, do not level very fast, cant really escape from the "fuck!" moments, needs rather good gear

What do you think? --Xerox95 (talk) 11:51, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Not bad. You've obviously thought this through very thoroughly. The one thing I would criticise is that they're too similar to shamans. Also they're troll-specific, and none of the other races are likely to want to become one. Jormungand01 (talk) 17:33, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Mystic Theurge

I have a sneaking suspicion that this section from the article should be deleted, as the article says only classes relevant to Warcraft should be included, and the Mystic is not. Plus, isn't voodoo magic a combination of divine and arcane? --Major Rantrek (talk) 23:57, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Monk

A monk is a cloth-wearing class similar to the priest that mainly uses fist weapons. It uses health and spiritual energy instead of mana, energy or rage. Playable classes would be Human, Dwarf, gnome and Troll, Undead, Blood Elf. It is quite similar to the priest but changes can be made to make it a different playing experience.

Talent Trees: Spiritual(Healing), Faith (Holy damage) and ______________(a buff type class?)

Some skills i thought could be used would be:

Name: Iron Fists
Type: Buff
Faith:XXX
What it does: Increases damage dealt by Fist weapons or unarmed by XXX
Talent Tree: _______________(?)
