Although all [[Affliction]] spells are in the Shadow school, this talent doesn't reduce the target's Shadow resistance -- it reduces the chance to resist directly. To a Mage, a resist means he misses out on that damage. But since Affliction spells are mostly dots and mostly instant cast, a resist just means you cast it again. However, DoT's suffer their own resistance checks, meaning that each tick of damage that a DoT deals rolls it's own resistance check to see if the damage was partially or completely resisted. Suppression helps in these checks, meaning that Suppression indirectly increases your damage against anything that can resist many times, such as a higher-levelled mob or a player with high Shadow Resistance. |

While not a bad talent, the alternative at this tier, [[Improved Corruption]], is a must-have for Warlocks spending points in this tree. |

Overview
Minimum Level Available: 10
Type of Talent: Passive Spell-school Enhancement
Description
Some Warlocks are known for the tenacity of their Shadow spells and the deviousness of their curses. Even champions of light who scoff at these masters of the dark can find themselves under the effects of a variety of debilitating enchantments and hexes.
Functionality
Although all Affliction spells are in the Shadow school, this talent doesn't reduce the target's Shadow resistance -- it reduces the chance to resist directly. This talent does NOT increase the effectiveness of [Curse of the Elements] or Curse of Shadows, it only decreases the likelihood that those curses will be resisted themselves.
Notes
To a Mage, a resist means he misses out on that damage. But since Affliction spells are mostly dots and mostly instant cast, a resist just means you cast it again. However, DoT's suffer their own resistance checks, meaning that each tick of damage that a DoT deals rolls it's own resistance check to see if the damage was partially or completely resisted. Suppression helps in these checks, meaning that Suppression indirectly increases your damage against anything that can resist many times, such as a higher-levelled mob or a player with high Shadow Resistance.
While not a bad talent, the alternative at this tier, [Improved Corruption], is a must-have for Warlocks spending points in this tree.
