The Southfury River is likely Kalimdor's most prominent river. Beginning as a small stream in the highlands surrounding Mount Hyjal, it grows into a wide, swift-flowing river that forms the boundary between Ashenvale Forest and Azshara, and further south, the border between the Barrens and Durotar where nasty creatures known as crocolisks patrol the waters. The river empties into the Great Sea in a cascading waterfall just northeast of the goblin port town of Ratchet.

There are two bridges that span the Southfury River: one leading into the capital city, Orgrimmar, in the north and one that crosses from Durotar into the Barrens more to the south.

In World of Warcraft: Cataclysm this river will flood the western part of Durotar. There is also a Goblin named Horton Hornblower near the mouth of the river with a Riverboat.
