In order to begin the quest, one must acquire an {{item|Unadorned Seal of Ascension}}. The seal is a random drop off of mobs both inside and outside the BRS instace. The seal can be purchased and sold on the Auction House.

You must find [[Emberstrife]] in the back of the cave in the southern mountains of [[Dustwallow Marsh]]. Engage him in combat and get his life to about 10%. Keep fighting until you get an emote saying his will has faltered (note: if you are a ranged class you CAN be out of range of this emote) then use the Unforged Seal of Ascension on the pool of water and it will appear as an object in the world. Then use the Orb of Draconic Energy on Emberstrife to mind control him. Cast his first fire spell on the Unforged Seal of Ascension, loot the Forged Seal of Ascension, decide whether or not you want to finish Emberstrife off (which you very well may, since he is [[skinnable]]), and then return to Vaelan.

If for some reason you do not get your Forged Seal of Ascension made before you run out of charges (there are 5 charges on both items) then you will have to get another Unadorned Seal of Ascension, drop the quest and go back and he will give you a new set to try it again.

Inv jewelry ring 01

The Seal of Ascension is a ring with several abilities that is obtained through a quest. It is no longer required for access to the upper portion of Blackrock Spire (BRS), but it can be worn to protect you from one of Gyth's special attacks as well as summon the spirit of Vaelastrasz to help you in the fight against Rend Blackhand.

Quests

This item obtained from a short questline:

In order to begin the quest, one must acquire an Racial dwarf findtreasure [Unadorned Seal of Ascension]. The seal is a random drop off of mobs both inside and outside the BRS instace. The seal can be purchased and sold on the Auction House.

Once one has the Seal, enter Lower Blackrock Spire (LBRS). Go up the stairs, take a right. Jump down and through the passage on the left. There will be a wooden bridge ahead of you.

Looking up on the left side, the group will see a single mob kneeling on a ledge. Walk to the end of the ledge, following it around and up an incline. What appears to be a regular mob is actually Neutral Vaelan in disguise. Upon coming into his aggro radius, he will cast a harmless spell on the group, allowing all to see Vaelan in his human form. Any group member with an Racial dwarf findtreasure [Unadorned Seal of Ascension] in their inventory will gain access to the Seal of Ascension quest.

Now collect the gems: The Inv misc gem bloodstone 01 [Gemstone of Bloodaxe] drops from Mob Overlord Wyrmthalak, the Inv misc gem opal 01 [Gemstone of Smolderthorn] drops from Mob War Master Voone, and the Inv misc gem diamond 02 [Gemstone of Spirestone] drops from Mob Highlord Omokk. The gems have a 100% drop rate. However, keep in mind that these gems are of Uncommon quality and do NOT drop for all group members.

Return to Vaelan. Upon turning in Seal of Ascension, he will issue the quest Seal of Ascension (2) giving you the Inv jewelry amulet 01 [Unforged Seal of Ascension] and an Inv misc orb 02 [Orb of Draconic Energy].
