"Scrolls" redirects here. For the Revendreth object, see Scrolls (Revendreth).

A scroll is an item that must be read in order to be used. Most scrolls have some sort of buff effect that applies to the selected target, but some just have a message. The buff from a [Runescroll of Fortitude] affects all party and raid members, while other scroll buffs only affect a single target.

Scroll buffs do not stack with player buffs that affect the same stat, or with other scroll buffs. As of Cataclysm they also count as ether Battle or Guardian Elixirs.

Players with the Inscription profession are able to create their own scrolls using Ink and Parchment, with the exception of Scrolls of Protection, which are only available as loot, from vendors, and, in some cases, in quest rewards.

All scrolls have a maximum stack size of 20.

Scrolls of Recall are consumables with effects similar to a Inv misc rune 01 [Hearthstone]. They have a separate 20 minute cooldown which they share with each other, can only be used by scribes, and have a chance of taking the user to the wrong location if the user's level is too high.

In the RPG[]

Icon-RPG This section contains information from the Warcraft RPG which is considered non-canon.

In the world of Azeroth, not all scrolls contain spells waiting to be cast. Some are more like wondrous items, with special runes that release potent magical abilities.[1]
