− | ''The following paragraph is now somewhat outdated: Recklessness is a fight-finisher, causing a 12s chain of near-guaranteed critical hits. To get the most out of it, be ready to use lots of instant attacks and other skills in order to maximize damage. In a boss fight, the best time to use Recklessness is generally when the boss mob is down below 20% health so that you can use [[Execute]]. It is suggested you get to 100% rage before using the first execute, to maximize your damage. Not one to use if you are Main Tanking, as the extra damage taken will rapidly make matters worse faster than the criticals can take the enemies out. Let the [[DPS]] do the damage if you're tanking.'' |

- "This is all the defense you could muster?"
—Fillet, Kneecapper Extraordinaire[1]
Recklessness is a warrior self-buff ability, that cost no Rage. It increases the warrior's critical strike chance with special attacks by 100% for 3 special attacks and increases damage taken by 20%. It lasts 12 seconds and takes 5 minutes to cooldown.
It cost 8 83 50 to learn at level 64.
Talents
- [Intensify Rage]: reduces cooldown by 10/20% (to 4:30/4:00 respectively)
Notes
- This is the Berserk Stance panic button with a 5min cooldown. As of Patch 3.0.2, it NO longer shares cooldown timer with [Shield Wall] or [Retaliation].
- Note that a 100% chance to score a critical hit does not mean that all attacks will hit your enemy, or even be critical hits. An attack made under Recklessness will still have the same chance to result in a miss, dodge, parry, or glancing blow as the same attack made without Recklessness; see the Attack table article.
- Synergies well with [Sweeping Strikes], [Death Wish], [Enrage], and Flurry (warrior talent).
- Doesn't affect [Shockwave], [Concussion Blow], [Heroic Throw] or [Thunder Clap]. Affects [Whirlwind], but removes 1 charge for each target you hit. While wielding 2 weapons it still will only remove 1 charge per traget. (But 1 remaining charge is enough to have all attacks of a whirlwind against 4 targets while dual-wielding (total of 8 attacks) crit)
- This ability is completely neutralized by talents that makes the player immune to critical hits, for Recklessness increases your crit chance by 100%, and those talents reduces the attacker's crit chance by 1000%. (confirmed by a GM) [1]
Patch changes
- Patch 4.0.6 (2011-02-08): Now increases special critical strike chance by 50%, down from 100%, but lasts the full 12 seconds instead of allowing only 3 charges.
- Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14): Recklessness now increases the critical hit chance of the next 3 special ability attacks by 100%, lasts 12 seconds, cooldown reduced to 5 minutes.
- Patch 1.7.0 (2005-09-13): Recklessness will no longer be canceled if you switch stances while the effect is active.
