Razorfen Downs (or simply Razorfen[1] or the Downs)[2] are the ancestral burial grounds of the quilboar, nestled amid huge brambles in the Thousand Needles.

It is said that the entrance to the Downs is made from Agamaggan's maw.[3] The entry to the outside dome is an arched gap, nearly invisible to any who didn't know where to look.[1]

History[]

Originally crafted from the same mighty vines as Razorfen Kraul, Razorfen Downs is the traditional capital city of the quilboar race. The sprawling, thorn-ridden labyrinth houses a veritable army of loyal quilboar as well as their high priests - the Death's Head tribe.

Charlga Razorflank shaped most of the thorn dome, but later taught Chugara Razorflank to maintain the dome.[4] Following the Third War, agents of the undead Scourge—led by the lich, Amnennar the Coldbringer—have taken control over the quilboar race and turned the maze of thorns into a bastion of undead might. The quilboar fought a desperate battle to reclaim their beloved city before Amnennar could spread his control across the Barrens.

The quilboar there were plagued[5] and took prisoners and imprisoned them here,[6] including Belnistrasz.

After the Cataclysm, Koristrasza arrived here to deal with the quilboars, undead, and Amnennar.[7] Once the lich was defeated, Koristrasza stated that the Downs need to be purged,[8] but nothing of sort was seen.

Even after Amnennar's defeat at the hands of mortal heroes employed by the red dragonflight, the lich was not truly killed, as his phylactery remained intact. Death Speaker Blackthorn intended to bring back his master to the realm of the living, and it was again up to mortal heroes to eliminate the Scourge problem within, this time once and for all.

At some point after the Cataclysm, Shagtusk brought the dryad Taryndrella here in order to cleanse the cave, but they were caught by Chugara and Blackthorn who wanted to sacrifice the dryad to Amnennar. Aramar Thorne and his friends entered the Downs as well. When they encountered Blackthorn and his undead army, Reigol Valdread joined the fray. While his objective was Aram's compass, he instead targeted Blackthorn. While Aram's group escaped, Reigol successfully stopped Amnennar's return.[9]

During the war in Draenor, Koristrasza and the heroes of the Alliance and Horde returned here and once again fought against the enemies. This time, Koristrasza took his phylactery away.

Adventure Guide[]

Legends state that where the demigod Agamaggan fell, his blood gave rise to great masses of thorny vines. Many quilboar have taken up residence in the largest cluster of giant thorns, the Razorfen, which they revere as Agamaggan's resting place. Recently, scouts have reported seeing undead milling about the region, engendering fears that the dreaded Scourge may be moving to conquer Kalimdor.
