This quest concludes the introduction to [The Scepter of the Shifting Sands] quest chain to open the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj.

Learn all that you can of the past, then speak with  File:IconSmall Bronze.gif Anachronos at the Caverns of Time in Tanaris.

Description

As you regain your composure and focus your gaze, you notice that something stirs within the crystal. Upon closer inspection, you realize that you are looking into the past... a memory... long forgotten.

Completion

After Staghelm's betrayal, I gathered the shattered pieces of the [Scepter of the Shifting Sands] and returned here. I had every intention of protecting the scepter from those that would seek to use it to cause harm to our world - thus was born the charge of the Dragonflights.

A scepter divided amongst the four mighty Aspects would prove to be nearly impossible to restore for those willfully seeking chaos... or so I thought. What a fool I was. Even now I am hunted by that cursed flight.

Upon completion of this quest you will gain:

• 6600 XP (or 3 96 at level 70)
• 100 reputation with Brood of Nozdormu

Notes

It would appear that the quest chain ends at the conclusion of this quest. However,  File:IconSmall Bronze.gif Anachronos gives you a hint that the Scepter was divided into four shards, with the assumption that Anachronos himself still holds one of the four.

Outside of the Bronze Dragonflight, of which Anachronos is a part, and the Black Dragonflight, of whose leader on Azeroth would have preferred the shards destroyed, the other three flights players had easy access to when this quest was introduced were the Blue, Green and Red flights.

As a level 60 player attempting this quest would have finished Blackwing Lair before even starting the chain, said player would have easily recognized powerful members of the three flights in the forms of  File:IconSmall Blue.gif Azuregos, the  File:IconSmall Green.gif Shade of Eranikus and  File:IconSmall Red.gif Vaelastrasz. The Scepter quest chain thus splits in to three forks:
