Perith Stormhoof is a tauren holy strider. While he is not famous in Azeroth, the name of Perith Stormhoof is whispered with reverence among the holy striders. He is one of the oldest holy striders. Tauren whisper that he has visited both Northrend and Theramore without injury, and he has even seen the shattered remains of Draenor. Perith does not confirm or deny these rumors; he knows that they only strengthen the respect and therefore worth of the holy striders. He works only for Cairne Bloodhoof and keeps many of his leader’s secrets (even secrets Thrall doesn’t know).
In The Shattering: Prelude to Cataclysm EditThis section concerns content exclusive to the Warcraft novels or short stories.
Perith appears again in The Shattering: Prelude to Cataclysm shortly after the death of Cairne Bloodhoof. He travels to Alterac Valley, and then to Nagrand, to inform the shaman Drek'thar, and then Thrall, of the tragedy.
Ironically, though he is held in high esteem by leaders of the Horde, he carries only the most critical messages, usually dire in nature, and is therefore perceived as a prophet of doom. Everyone is honored, but no one is happy, to see him.
