OwlWhite

A broad-faced, nocturnal bird known to hunt rodents and reptiles. Owls look different from most birds in that they have wide faces, short curved beaks and large, front-facing eyes.

Owls swoop quietly down onto prey, attacking with their powerful talons.Template:Cite Owls are found throughout Teldrassil, Felwood and Winterspring. In Alterac Valley, the Alliance has befriended the owls. Owls have also been found in Outland, though under different names: The brown and black Kaliri in Hellfire Peninsula and the Sethekk Halls (a species of bird raised by the Arakkoa), and the brown Windrocs in Nagrand.

Species

  • Common Owl
Common owls are nocturnal birds of prey from 1 to 2 feet long, with wingspans up to 6 feet. They combine both talons into a single attack.Template:Cite
  • Giant Owl
These large owls are from 4–5 feet long with wingspans up to 12 feet. They are common in Northern Kalimdor. They are aggressive only if disturbed.Template:Cite
  • Ability eyeoftheowl [Great Horned Owl]
  • Ability eyeoftheowl [Hawk Owl]

Vanity Pets

An Alliance player can purchase two types of owls as "vanity pets" from a vendor before the gates to Darnassus:

As A Hunter Pet

  • Has high damage (+7%), medium HP (+0%), and low armor (+0%).
  • Eats meat.
  • Can learn Claw, Cower, Ability physical taunt [Growl], Spell shadow burningspirit [Dive], and their special skill, Peticon-beast Ability deathknight summongargoyle [Screech].
  • Only found in Teldrassil until level 48. Some lower-level Horde hunters sneak into Teldrassil to tame an owl earlier. Due to Screech being a great skill for pet tanking and the high amount of owls in Outland, they have become more popular, though some players still avoid them because their large wings can interfere with targeting.
