Do we know who made the Wowpedia icon stamp used in the wiki logo? I noticed it uses a Europe/Africa map and not a WoW map. Anyway that can be fixed? -- Fandyllic (talk · contribs) 8:14 PM PST 7 Nov 2010 03:14, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

That is very strange considering how much Blizzard art we have littered all over the site as well as altered versions of many pieces of Blizzard art. Can we get Curse to ask Blizzard permission to use the Azeroth map in our logo or one of us ask Blizzard ourselves? --

There is a difference between documenting a game that has given rights up for fans to document it, and using a piece of game art in an official logo (not fair use) for a company/group/etc. Colanai (talk) 04:24, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

It is a picture of Africa and Europe because the WoW community that makes up Wowpedia is from the real world. That is my take.--SWM24 48 04:26, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

I do think you would have to get special permission. And knowing Activision Blizzard, you won't get it. Azeroth is ™ and © Blizzard Entertainment. As said above, it's not fair use. I know what you mean, but it's a minor nuisance. Elunatic talk · contr 22:12, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

How does Wowhead get away with it? Isn't their rocket basically just a derivative of in-game and UI rockets? --

Probably easier with that... as they could say, it's simply a rocket with a face painted on it.

I would say the Wowhead logo is at least as similar to the in-game icon as the in-game Azeroth map is to the stylized Azeroth map in a version of the Wowpedia icon stamp. Meaning, they really aren't that similar. You can barely see the Azeroth map in the version I made.

Just something for consideration. --
