Third Boss of Mana-Tombs in Auchindoun and second Nexus-Prince to rule in Outland (the others being Nexus-Prince Razaan in Blade's Edge Mountains and Nexus-Prince Haramad, leader of the Consortium). He leads another faction of ethereals in the Mana-Tombs against the Consortium.

Attacks and abilities
*Melee: Melees for 350-450 on a decently geared warrior and frostbolt/fireball for ~1000-1200 damage; occasional frost nova and blink.

*Ethereal Beacons: Begins the fight with three Ethereal Beacons and regularly spawns one approximately every 10 seconds. These beacons cast an Arcane Bolt. After a while, they will disappear and spawn a humanoid...

*Ethereal Apprentice: The Ethereal Beacons spawn humanoids if they are not taken down promptly, which alternate between casting Fireball and Frostbolt.

  +
Cho'gall, Initiate of the Fifth Circle of the Shadow Council and Chieftain of the Twilight's Hammer clan, is a two-headed ogre and the first of the ogre magi. He was an apprentice of Gul'dan. Cho'gall, as with a number of ogres of his type, actually has two names, one for each head — Cho and Gall.
Strategy
Nexus-Prince Shaffar starts with three Ethereal Beacons surrounding him. These must be killed quickly or an Ethereal Apprentice will spawn in its place. Depending on how many damage-dealing classes the party consists of, each member should be assigned one beacon to kill. Each beacon has approximately 2600 health. Additional beacons will spawn one at a time as the fight progresses and should also be killed. Shaffar will yell, "I have such fascinating things to show you!" when one appears. This happens approximately every 10 seconds, so be ready for one even if he does not yell. If a beacon is not killed quick enough, an apprentice will spawn in its place. The apprentice can be crowd-controlled if necessary, such as being polymorphed by a mage. The apprentices do not have much health and can be killed, but they inflict a lot of fire and frost damage very quickly if not dealt with immediately. When there are no beacons or apprentices to deal with, players should focus their damage on Shaffar.

Cho'gall is a two-headed ogre - alongside Blackheart, one of the first seen in many generations - and was trained in the arts of the arcane by the warlock Gul'dan, who aided the struggling ogre in mastering the powers of the Twisting Nether. In time, Cho'gall became one of the most feared and venerated members of the Old Horde during the First and Second Wars against the humans. Alongside Kilrogg Deadeye, Cho'gall led the failed first siege of Stormwind Keep.

  +
Cho'gall became the Chieftain of an orc clan after the previous one was executed for disobeying the Shadow Council. Cho'gall renamed the clan as the Twilight's Hammer, while all records of both the clan's old name and the chieftain's one were destroyed.
Nexus-Prince Shaffar does not deal a lot of physical melee damage, but does deal a lot of spell damage: fire, frost, shadow, and arcane. Paladins can use Frost or Fire Resistance Auras and priests can cast Shadow Protection to minimize incoming spell damage. He occasionally casts Blink. This does not clear aggro and he will not teleport far away. However, he often casts Frost Nova to snare players in melee range just before he Blinks, allowing him to cast spells uninterrupted. Warriors are able to use Spell Reflection to minimize spell damage taken. The tank must be ready to run toward him and maintain aggro when Frost Nova wears off or is removed, though aggro is generally not an issue because the other players will also be focusing their damage on the Ethereal Beacons.

Though Cho'gall was extremely powerful, he was also dangerously insane. The clan, less of a tribe and more of a religious cult, was devoted to bringing about the apocalypse. In his capacity as a chieftain and as the right hand of Gul'dan, Cho'gall aided his master in the creation of the death knights and the Altars of Storms, and in the transformation of normal ogres into ogre magi.

  +
Cho'gall and the Twilight's Hammer followed Gul'dan and the Stormreaver Clan when the warlock went to discover the Tomb of Sargeras. Though he did not enter the tomb himself, Cho'gall was assaulted while defending Gul'dan from the Black Tooth Grin led by Rend and Maim, the sons of Blackhand, who had been sent by Orgrim Doomhammer to destroy the traitor clans that had abandoned the war on the Alliance just before the final push on Capital City. While many perished on the Broken Isles, some members of the Twilight's Hammer clan were able to survive, including Cho'gall, who had long been presumed dead at the hands of the sons of Blackhand and their Black Tooth Grin clan.
If the party consists of primarily melee classes, players should stay near Nexus-Prince Shaffar. This ensures players will not have to run far from Shaffar to be able to attack the Ethereal Beacons and then resume attacking him.

Heroic mode
  +
After the battle at the Broken Isles, Cho'gall escaped to southern Kalimdor, where he took shelter within the chamber of C'Thun deep inside the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj.
This guy is a lot harder on heroic mode. The beacons turn into apprentices much faster, and you may have trouble in killing all initial beacons before they spawn.

  +
While the Alliance and Horde were focused on defeating the Lich King, Cho'gall hung Med'an on the corpse of the Old God C'Thun, where Med'an would be tormented by the Old God's mad whisperings. As Cho'gall went about preparing for C'Thun's resurrection, but the power of the Old God monstrously deformed Cho'gall's body. Making their way deep into the ruined temple, Valeera Sanguinar and Meryl Winterstorm confronted the increasingly hideous Cho'gall and managed to recover Med'an. Together they managed to recover Med'an, but in order to fend off Cho'gall and give them enough time to make their escape, Valeera was forced to willingly give her body to the dreadlord Kathra'Natir before the trio were able to teleport to safety.
With a decent party, however, if all the adds are focused on before the boss, Nexus-Prince Shaffar shouldn't be too hard. However, it requires a lot of coordination as the beacons change faster than the time it takes for one person to solo. No apprentice should be left alive if they spawn. With only the Nexus-Prince doing damage to the party, the healer should have no problem keeping everybody up.

  +
It was later revealed (somehere?) that Cho'gall had planned to sacrifice Med'an and use Med'an's potent magical power to resurrect C'Thun. Cho'gall began performing the rites and channeled a great deal of energy, but Med'an was able to contain it within a ward around the ogre. Restoring Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian to its rightful state, Med'an focused the powers of the council through it to defeat Cho'gall, burying him beneath the rubble of Ahn'Qiraj.

Cho'gall apparently survived his encounter with Med'an and reappeared around the time of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. He plays roles in numerous questlines, notably in Dire Maul and Twilight Highlands. His image appears around Azeroth speaking with cultists.

  +
During the fourth phase of pre-Cataclysm Elemental Unrest event, he commanded four of his elemental lieutenants to attack Horde and Alliance capital cities. In addition players witnessed his personal conversation with Crown Princess Theradras, who was put in charge Earth Elementals assigned to invade Orgrimmar and Ironforge. He also praised Hydromancer Kulratha of the Sandfury Tribe, sister to the late Hydromancer Velratha, for strenghtening Gahz'rilla, a favored pet of the Old Gods.
Alternative Strategy 1:

Do not try and just go all out dps on the boss, as you will die, the fearing mechanic does not work well as the adds spread out and even a paladin cannot hold aggro on all of them. This would only work for extremely well geared past SSC players.

During the Twilight Highlands questline players witness his new weapon - The Hammer of Twilight.

The boss can be done with a slightly under-geared but properly-coordinated team by employing a suicide bomber strategy with two mages in group. Essentially the tank engages and holds the boss while the mages rush in with fast Arcane Explosion burst damaging the ads, at a point where the ads are low, the mages would switch to the boss, now with enough threat on the boss, and pop all cooldowns and go all out DPS, switching back to AE-ing the ads possibly when they start getting out of hand again. It may take a few attempts but it bypasses the gearcheck. It also requires a decent healer to keep up the mages. The tank shouldn't be getting hit too hard in comparison.

Another approach to deal with the fast spawning beacons is to let the tank deal with the beacons bringing them under control while high dps is bringing them down. The tanking task of Shaffar can be done by a warlock quite easily spamming searing pain and dotting whenever he can. Since Nexus-Prince Shaffar is a caster only dealing frost and fire damage such a tanking approach is a very simple and successful way to bring him down fast and safely. Fast heals are preferred on the warlock tank, so the ideal healer would be a holy paladin. Damage camp may consist of any class available, provided their damage output is high enough to bring a fast end to the beacons. One DPS class should focus on the beacons controlled by the "conventional" tank, the other concentrates on the Nexus-Prince. Quite soon he will be dead...

In heroic mode, the beacons transform into apprentices very fast, and once it happens the apprentices are at full health. We (a melee-heavy party) found it easier to let them transform then burn them down. While the apprentices have more health and are harder to kill, you don't waste any DPS on a beacon if you can't kill it. The difference between killing the beacon versus killing the non-elite apprentice was small enough that it became more preferable. However you still want to focus fire at the start of the fight to take out at least one beacon, and make sure someone (like your tank) get aggro on all the beacons even if no one is killing it.

Further Notes:

These points may make the fight easier with the Kill Adds strat. Especially if you have wiped a few times and do not seem to be making progress. -

If you have mage/lock, they can start their Pyroblast/Soul Fire on one of the beacons. As both spells have a 6 sec cooldown, they can be started before the tank initiates the fight. This will make the first beacon kill easy.

The dps in the party can then focus on killing the remaining two humanoids that spawn.

After the first 3 adds are down, the melee dps can switch back on to the boss. The ranged dps can continue on killing the humanoids as soon as they appear. What helps here is having one ranged dps target each add and focus dps. The other ranged dps should click the ranged dps person in the party and hit the F key. This will change their target to the target being focused on and will help a great deal with killing the humanoid adds quickly.

His voice and accent are notably similar to that of the character, the Merovingian, from the Matrix film series.

Also maybe reference to the end of Event Horizon. The scenery and the Prince himself bear a resemblance as well as the specific line "I have such fascinating things to show you."
