Netherray

A beast native to Outland. It has a body much like a stingray's (thus the name), with a long tail and two feathery plumes. It has crystalline growths and stripes running down its body, and all types are brightly colored.

While not especially big as a whole, at least one titanic specimen has been allegedly spotted by adventurers in Zangarmarsh, dubbing it "Count" Ungula. The Cenarion Expedition would be interested in proof of the creature's existence.

Nether rays have been found in Netherstorm, Zangarmarsh, and Shadowmoon Valley and are tamable as Hunter pets. However, all members of this pet family found in Netherstorm, Shadowmoon Valley, and Zangarmarsh feature caster stats, making them abnormally weak and fragile. The Fen Ray from the Underbog is the only-non caster of this creature.

Nether rays are a purchasable flying mount. It requires Template:Exalted with the Sha'tari Skyguard faction and a riding skill of 300 to use them.

As A Hunter Pet

  • Have very high HP (+10%), very low armor (-10%), and average damage (+3%).
  • Eats meat.
  • Can learn Ability druid ferociousbite [Bite], Growl, Cower, and Spell shadow burningspirit [Dive].
  • Occasionally used as an Outland novelty, the fact that every nether ray has caster stats (save for the Fen Ray found in Underbog and Coilfang Ray in Slave Pens) is a major deterrent for using one. In addition, they have no unique skill and their stats do not make them particularly well suited for any particular role.

There are various drawings of Nether rays in the outland map. When zoomed in on Netherstorm or Nagrand, deatailed drawings of Nether rays can be found in the upper and lower left corners
