She also casts Shock of Sorrow, which deals 1750 to 2250 shadow damage, incapacitates all group members for 10 seconds and seems to act as an aggro dump. This ability has a 4 second cast time. If the healer is positioned near a void zone, the healer can jump into it to avoid being incapacitated for the full duration. In the event this happens too quickly, PVP trinkets are able to clear the incapacitate, unlike the Maiden of Virtue ability.

On heroic, kite the tank around the perimeter and interrupt casting of "Pillar of Woe". The tank should jump into the void zone to negate the 10-second sleep during the casting of "Shock of Sorrow". Warriors can use Beserker Rage to remove the effect and maintain aggro and it is wise to taunt before "Shock of Sorrow" to alleviate the one-shot to cloth and leather wearers.

Average geared groups and average DPS makeup - at 20% Warriors should use use shield wall, blocking trinkets and Enraging Regeneration to ensure survivalbility. It is advisable to have Warlock healthstones if the group does not have a warrior tank. The most important aspect of the fight is staying awake and keeping tank aggro at 100%.

Note: Shadow Aura, Shadow Protection recommended and buffs are dispellable.

Maiden of Grief is a female titan-like statue boss, much like Maiden of Virtue in Karazhan. She is a boss of the non-linear instance Halls of Stone.

Tactics

This fight is not similar to Maiden of Virtue in Karazhan despite the same NPC model and incapacitate effects. The fight is a moving fight with heads up tactics needed.

She occasionally drops a big void zone under herself and puts a magical debuff dealing shadow damage. Everyone including the tank should move out of it to avoid the relatively signifcant damage incurred. On Heroic mode, the void zone does a lot more damage (as much as 5400 a tick on a plate wearer).

In the event this happens too quickly, PvP trinkets are able to clear the incapacitate.

Strategy

On normal, the best strategy seems to be to have the casters stand in the middle of the room as the tank keeps her moving in a continuous circle around the outside perimeter. Before she finishes casting Shock of Sorrow, a taunt is cast to ensure the tank is the next target hit by her, thereby removing the stun effect.

On heroic, kite the boss around the perimeter and interrupt casting of "Pillar of Woe". The tank can jump into the void zone to negate the 10-second sleep during the casting of "Shock of Sorrow". Warriors can use Beserker Rage to remove the effect and maintain aggro. It is also advised to taunt before before she finishes casting Shock of Sorrow to avoid cloth and leather wearers being one-shot. The most important aspect of the fight is staying awake and keeping tank aggro at 100%.

Note: use Shadow Aura, Shadow Protection if available. Debuffs are dispellable.
