Lord Talendar was a skeleton slain by Rexxar and his companions within the Tomb of the Ancients, somewhere in Dustwallow Marsh during the events of the Invasion of Durotar.

Biography[]

Old Hatreds - Tomb of the Ancients - Skeletal guards

Talendar and his guards

While he lived, Talendar was drawn to the arcane, even though he was unable to cast spells himself. He thus decided to surround himself with the arcane and locked himself within the halls which were to become his tomb. He was defended by a host of skeletons and golems, as well as the Mistress of Shadows and her Maidens of Shadows, some of whom were studying in an adjacent library. He was defeated by Rexxar who claimed his hollowed out skull, ironically now a powerful magical artifact.[1]

  • 10 heavy armor

Speculation[]

This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

Talendar was likely a Highborne night elf in life - his obsession with the arcane as well as his fate to haunt the Tomb of the Ancients are typical of the Highborne who remained in Kalimdor. While his tomb is located in Dustwallow Marsh, there are definitive night elf ruins at Nightmare Scar in the Barrens, and the Magistrates Temple is located nearby. The make and adornment of the Tomb of the Ancients is thoroughly unlike that of other natives of Kalimdor, and is the same at the caverns under Stonetalon Peak, likely of Highborne origin as well. The Mistress of Shadows and the Maidens of Shadows use blood elf Sorceress models, further supporting the idea that they and Lord Talendar were Highborne of some description.
