Lord Banehollow is a dreadlord of the Burning Legion and the former leader of Jaedenar, the seat of the Shadow Council on Azeroth.
History[]
Located in Shadow Hold in Felwood, Lord Banehollow was guarded by a wide variety of warlocks, demons, and his personal attendant Ur'dan. Lord Hel'nurath is his rival. He had in his possession Xorothian stardust which was needed by Gorzeeki Wildeyes. He had a warlock adventurer disguise as a member of the Shadow Council and go to Banehollow to obtain it.[1] To gain his favor, Banehollow sent the adventurer to kill his former servant Ulathek, who was actually a spy for Lord Hel'nurath on Xoroth, and to get his heart, planning to eat it.[2] With the task done, Banehollow allowed the adventurer buy the stardust from Ur'dan.[3]
Wanting to dismantle Shadow Hold, the druid Farlus Wildheart of the Emerald Circle worked with adventurers to eliminate the leaders of the area. The druid sent them to kill Shadow Lord Fel'dan, who the dreadlord viewed as an instrument to prepare the land for another invasion of the Burning Legion. Once the orc was slain, the next target Lord Banehollow himself.[4]
He appears in the Black City on the Broken Shore during the Battle for the Broken Shore and can be encountered by the Horde forces.[5]
Years later, Banehollow disguised himself as Madam Shadow on the Darkmoon Island and lured new warlocks to his side, posing as a teacher, but in order he wanted to obtain their souls.[6] He had a bargain with Phineas, who delivered him the warlocks, but eventually the dreadlord killed him for his servitude.[7] After obtaining some of the souls, the adventurer revealed the true identity of Madam Shadow, and the nathrezim retreated to the Tainted Scar in the Blasted Lands, where the adventurer and Initiate Oman defeated Banehollow, with his last words being that he'll be back.[8]
