Legion-Logo-Small This article concerns content exclusive to Legion.

Level scaling is a game mechanic introduced with Legion-Logo-Small Legion that first only was available in the starting zones of the Broken Isles (excluded the Broken Shore). The essence of this feature is that item drops and rewards, mobs, and quests scale to the level of the character. A more limited version of this feature was introduced with Warlords-Logo-Small Warlords of Draenor, but only applied level 90 to 100 characters in Draenor zones besides non-intro part of Tanaan Jungle. This feature also appeared for level 110 to 120 characters in the following Battle-Logo-Small Battle for Azeroth expansion for Kul Tiras and Zandalar zones as well as Island Expeditions.[citation needed]

Leveling zones from 1–100 will dynamically scale to your character's level for a certain range.[1]

Also affects quests, dungeons, and zones.[1]

At BlizzCon 2017, Ion Hazzikostas announced, at the World of Warcraft - What's Next panel, that level scaling would be coming to all of Azeroth (and other worlds like Outland and Draenor), but lower level zones would have scaling ranges appropriate to the expansion.
