Lantresor of the Blade is a half-orc quest giver located at the Burning Blade Ruins in Nagrand. He is a half-draenei, half-orc blademaster and leader of the ogre Boulderfist clan of Outland, and of the orcish Burning Blade clan.[2] He is said to have crossed the Dark Portal, serving under two Warchiefs of the Horde and later returning home.[3]

By the time he arrives at the first Azerothian Kosh'harg festival, he has assumed leadership of the Burning Blade by virtue of being the eldest surviving blademaster. Although he initially thought that the clan should die out due to the Blade's repeated notions of demon worship and treason,[1] by the end of the festival he has changed his tune slightly to find some worth in the remaining members of the clan. Namely referring to Arnak Fireblade and Mordak Darkfist; Lantresor noted that while they may be warlocks, they are his kin.[4]

Lantresor of the Blade

Lantresor in Nagrand.

A blademaster of half-draenei and half-orc descent, Lantresor of the Blade was amongst the Horde forces that invaded Azeroth, where he would serve under both Warchief Blackhand and Orgrim Doomhammer before returning to home. By the time of the Invasion of Outland, he ruled over the Boulderfist clan of ogres after the previous ruler Krol went missing. The Boulderfist found themselves losing ground against the Warmaul, which in turn spurred them with taking over territory such as the village that belonged to the Bleeding Hollow clan.[5] They also planned for an assault on Telaar.[6]

In time Jorin Deadeye and Mo'mor the Breaker sent adventurers of the Horde and Alliance against the Boulderfist before sending them on a diplomatic mission to peacefully end the attacks on their holdings by speaking with Lantresor. After a short conversation the blademaster and the envoy came to an agreement to help one another.[7] Thus at Lantresor' direction, the envoy attacked the Kil'sorrow clan at Kil'sorrow Fortress and planted Warmaul banners, framing the ogres as the attackers, while also having them strike at the Warmaul and plant Kil'sorrow banners framing the orcs for the attack.[8][9]

With the Warmaul and Kil'sorrow now locked in conflict against one another, Lantresor declared that the envoy had saved his clan from extermination. He subsequently sent the envoy back to their people, with the message that "Lantresor of the Burning Blade and his Boulderfist ogres accept the offering of peace."[10][11]

Honor and Glory - Burning Blade

Lantresor was one of the many who attended the first Kosh'harg festival on Azeroth held at Razor Hill in Durotar. He noted how the orcs had a decent home for themselves and reflected that there was even room for half-breeds at this new Kosh'harg, citing the presence of Garona Halforcen and the mok'nathal. He then expressed his hope that Blackhand was rolling in his grave. Meanwhile, his presence was noted by the Burning Blade Horde loyalists Arnak Fireblade and Mordak Darkfist who had come to represent the clan at the festival. The two were in awe, noting how he was a legend amongst their clan, and feeling intimidated inquired into orc champions introducing them to him.[12]

Lantresor, by virtue of being the oldest surviving blademaster, has assumed leadership of the clan. Unfortunately, his views of the clan are poor; noting its repeated inclination to mayhem, treason, and demon worship, refusing away new applicants to the clan when orcs are speaking to the various chieftains. He expressed that the Burning Blade didn't deserve their loyalty and that the clan was accursed and should wither and die.[1]

By the end of the festival, Arnak and Mordak were joined by Lantresor at their clan table. For his part, Lantresor has changed his tune slightly. He made note that the two were not blademasters, but warlocks, but did not express any hostility towards them; instead taking note that they may very well be the last kin he has left.[4]

Gossip
Who so boldly stands before Lantresor of the Blade? Do you not know death by sight, <girl/boy>?

Gossip I have killed many of your ogres, Lantresor. I have no fear.

Then you are a fool. Do you not know what I am?

Gossip Should I know? You look like an orc to me.

An orc...
<Lantresor scoffs.>
I am a blademaster of half-orc descent.

Gossip And the other half?

Draenei... And because of this, I am neither. Not orc, nor draenei. My own kind are a rare breed. Most having been killed decades ago... I live because of my strength of will.

Gossip I have heard of your kind, but I never thought to see the day when I would meet a half-breed.

Bite your tongue, <race>. I have seen things in my lifetime that you have only heard about in legends. I have killed man, woman, and child without remorse. Under the banner of two Warchiefs of the Horde have I served... and now, I rule Boulderfist.

Gossip My apologies. I did not mean to offend. I am here on behalf of my people.

And what do your people want of Lantresor, <race>?

Gossip My people ask that you pull back your Boulderfist ogres and cease all attacks on our territories. In return, we will also pull back our forces.

<Lantresor laughs heartily.>
Do you know where you are, fool? This is ogre land. Before orc, before draenei, there was ogre. Yet, you wish to start a war that you will inevitably lose? Boulderfist will crush you. And if Boulderfist does not destroy you, Warmaul will...
But I think your leaders already know this...

Gossip We will fight you until the end, then, Lantresor. We will not stand idly by as you pillage our towns and kill our people.

<Lantresor glares at you as if he were looking through you.>
Perhaps there is another way... I will agree to your leader's demands, only if you do exactly as I ask.
With your assistance, we may be able to help each other out greatly.

Gossip What do I need to do?

Notes[]

  • In his Durotar appearance, he uses the same model as his younger WoD alternate self. His Nagrand appearance remains unchanged.
    • This is likely erroneous, as his WoD self later uses a more adequately older model during the revisit to Draenor for recruiting the Mag'har; which would have been better suited for this situation as well.
