Overview

As a warrior, it is inevitible that either you or your present opponent (the latest in a long list of opponents) will bleed from some wound or another. Some warriors happen to be very good at making sure that it's their opponent doing the bleeding...

...and lots of it.

Functionality

Improved Rend increases the ammount of damage your Rend ability DoTs for.

It is a passive Arms talent, and automatically affects the Rend ability when it is used.

Prequisites: none

Rank Effect
Rank 1/3 +15% Rend bleed damage.
Rank 2/3 +25% Rend bleed damage.
Rank 3/3 +35% Rend bleed damage.

Notes

By itself Improved Rend, like a normal Rend, isn't going to make or break your character. However, if you plan to get Deep Wounds or Impale you're going to need this ability anyway. Being a static DoT, your mileage will vary based on your specific build and style of play. While Improved Rend probably won't win you any fights by itself, it can help you finish them sooner.

Builds That Will Find This Talent Useful

Two-weapon Arms builds will find this talent useful as a complement to Deep Wounds. Because your primary hand weapon won't do as much damage as a two-hander the DoT ticks will be more significant, especially during strings of misses/dodges/parrys.

Sword & Board non-Fury builds will find this talent a useful way to increase their DPS without making a significant expenditure in a non-Protection talent tree.

Builds That Will Not Find This Talent Useful

Two-hander builds of all types will most likely laugh at this talent because even with the 35% increase to DoT damage they do more per hit than Rend does over the full DoT. They will find Deep Wounds useful because its DoT is a percentage of their average weapon damage, but in general if you don't use Rend anyway, you won't find Improved Rend useful.
