Hunters, of course.
Anything that's grey, white, green or blue, deals damage, has armor value, has an ability OR has stats. If its a purple, or god forbid, orange, you guys can pass already. Basically, if we can ctrl+click it, it's ours.

Hey, hunters have stats like everyone else right? And unlike warriors or rogues, we use mana too! We even have spells like casters do, you know. Er.. Arcane Shot is a spell right? And immolation trap deals fire damage, so I'm going to roll need on that , thank you very much.
- As of patch 4.0.1, hunters no longer use Mana as their primary resource, but Focus, nullifying any bonus hunters would previously have gotten from Intellect and Spirit, ending the Hunter Loot confusion. This would have made this article obsolete, save for the fact that Intellect and Spirit are still increased on the hunter's character sheet.
Serious Explanation of "Hunter Loot"Edit
The OMG HUNTER LOOT joke exists for a reason. It is not because hunters share their gear class with many other classes, and can use so many items. It is mainly because only a selection of items from a given category are even remotely useful to a hunter even if they are usable by a hunter.
Take three weapons as an example:
- - Nice dps, and a decent proc. Not useful to a hunter. No hunter is going to desire to be in melee range long enough for this to proc. Any melee class however would probably gladly take this weapon as its proc would directly benefit them.
- - Another example of a nice dps, nice stat weapon. The stats however are completely unsuited for a hunter in his typical role (ranged dps) whereas in the hands of a melee class the extra hp and armor (at least in the hands of a warrior or paladin and sometimes rogue) would be a much better fit.
- - This however is a perfect example of a typical "OMG HUNTER WEAPON" No proc to muddy the water, and very "hunter centric" stats on a dual wieldable weapon (26 agility is roughly 1/2% crit and 26 ranged attack power - arguably the hunters most important stat, not to mention they could both be enchanted for an additional 30 agility).
Clearly the Hatchet could be useful to other classes. No doubt about that. A hunter though, if he wants to make the most use out of his abilities must be very preferential in regards to what equipment he takes (only the Hatchet). It is a disservice to hunters in general to generalize "OMG HUNTER LOOT" as hunters just being plain greedy, when a better understanding of the equipment concerns that hunters regularly face would go a long way toward class understanding.
