Hulking Labgoblin can be found in the Secret Lab of Azshara, where he guards a chunk of Azsharite that Assistant Greely wants delivered.
Players must escort him from the burning lab to her, using the 
[Fireliminator X-21] to spray him and the cart occasionally in order to prevent the Azsharite from exploding. When sprayed, the Hulking Labgoblin will make remarks of a vaguely sexual nature.

He appears to be a reference to Team Fortress 2.
As of Patch 4.0.3a (the pre-Cataclysm patch), there was a bug in which the Azsharite Core sometimes displayed as a checkered box for accounts which had not been upgraded to Cataclysm.
