The Herald of the Lich King is an unknown entity that does a series of zone wide yells during the Scourge Invasion. It is never seen. In the comic, when the scourge attacks Stormwind Harbor, it appears as a large, shadowy figure (or smudge) that may be a shade.[citation needed]
In Wrath of the Lich King
This NPC notably appears during the Scourge Invasion of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City at the introduction of Wrath of the Lich King.
For the Alliance, it first is heard in Stormwind Harbor as:
- Herald of the Lich King yells: FOOLS OF STORMWIND! HEAR ME, NAIVE CHILDREN OF THE ALLIANCE! TREMBLE AND KNOW YOUR DOOM, FOR THE LICH KING'S GAZE IS FIXED UPON YOU!
Later after the invasion is dealt with:
- Herald of the Lich King yells: ARGH! THIS SMALL VICTORY WILL AVAIL YOU NOTHING! COME! COME TO NORTHREND. MY MINIONS ARE WAITING, AND THEY ARE HUNGRY....
For the Horde, it is first heard in the cut-scene where Garrosh Hellscream challenges Thrall to a duel in the Ring of Valor. Near the end of the fight the Herald interrupts the duel with the following:
- Herald of the Lich King yells: PUPS OF ORGRIMMAR! HEAR ME, BRASH UPSTARTS OF THE HORDE! TREMBLE, AND KNOW YOUR DOOM, FOR THE LICH KING'S GAZE IS FIXED UPON YOU!
Later after the invasion is dealt with:
- Herald of the Lich King yells: ARGH! THIS SMALL VICTORY WILL AVAIL YOU NOTHING! COME! COME TO NORTHREND. MY MINIONS ARE WAITING, AND THEY ARE HUNGRY....
