Guild hopper is a term used to describe players of World of Warcraft who join a Guild for the sole purpose of gaining fast loot and then leaving to join another guild. It was possible for this type of player to gear themselves up in a very short space of time by gaining drops from boss kills with their guild. Many guilds now employ a trial period to combat this anti-social action. Within the trial period, the player is not allowed to take any drops at all from bosses that are killed with the guild. For this reason the term Guild Hopper in it's original meaning is more or less defunct and generally used as a way to insult another player.
