The goal and purpose of the Order of the Golden Law is to stand against the forces of greater evil that threaten the existence of life as we know it, from the Scourge, the Burning Legion and the Twilight's Hammer, to lesser organizations of evil such as cults, chaotic-evil guilds, and mortal forces bent on destroying or enslaving mankind. It is our duty to stand in defiance of all of these, not as individuals, but as a body which is united under one banner in the name of the Light (or in the name of Good in general).
Individuals who do not necessarily follow the Light - Druids, Shaman, Mages, Hunters, and some Rogues - can still join the Order if their goal is aligned with the Order's. While they do not need to believe that the Light is their overall higher-power, they are expected to adhere to, and dedicate their lives to follow the teachings of the Three Virtues and the tenets of the "Followers Code".

The Order of the Golden Law is an active, heavy role-play guild. Experienced, mature, and veteran role-players are preferred, with a general understanding of basic Lore, and a decent skill in spelling, punctuation, and over-all grammar. All members are expected to have either an MRP (MyRolePlay), TRP (TotalRolePlay), or XRP to optimize their role-play capabilities and personal experiences with the guild. Ventrilo or Skype is heavily recommended for In-Character events and for an Out-of-Character voice interview.
The Order of the Golden Law is, first and foremost, a Holy Military Order. What's a "Holy Military Order"? The Knights of the Silver Hand, the Argent Dawn, and the Argent Crusade are all Holy Military Orders.
Uniforms are enforced ICly and are expected to be worn during events and within major cities at all times (some exceptions apply). OOCly, you're free to wear what you wish!
The Order of the Golden Law was founded by Jonathan Kalery and was built around the very same Virtues that the Order of the Silver Hand and Church of Holy Light were modeled after - Respect, Tenacity and Compassion. With the recent return of the Highlord after a fairly successful coup d'etat, a resurgence of faith, faces, and friends new and old have begun to gather beneath the banner of the Golden Law once more.
Months after their founding, when the Order of the Golden Law was several hundred strong, comprised of true-hearted men and women in service to the Holy Light and to the people - it began to establish a reputation as an Order whose members are willing to put their lives at risk to defend Azeroth and her people against evil.
The banner of the Golden Law is recognized amongst their allies as a symbol of peace, hope, justice, and unity, and the men and women who carry that banner are the very embodiment of these tenets. Any seeking to join the Order are called to lose much of their old life, including: titles of power, pride, disrespect, dishonesty, and hedonism. Giving up their titles of power (such as the title of a Noble), each member will accept the mantle of a commoner and the humility that comes with it.
Giving up their pride, each member must learn to show compassion even to those who show them disrespect or do them a wrong. Giving up their disrespect, they must learn to respect all beings, good, evil or otherwise. Giving up their dishonesty, they must learn to be truthful in their actions, words, and thoughts. The demands the Order of the Golden Law have for those who carry its banner are heavy, but this only proves the discipline of the members that comprise it. Will you become a Brother or Sister of the Order of the Golden Law?
Guild Rules & RecruitmentEdit
Guild rules and protocols can be found on the website, along with additional information regarding recruitment.
The Golden Law welcomes all races and classes so long as they aim to do good. Roleplaying add-ons such as MRP (MyRolePlay), TRP (TotalRolePlay), or XRP are recommended to optimize their role-play capabilities and personal experiences with the guild.
Firstly, anyone seeking to join the Order of the Golden Law must undergo an Out-of-Character interview in Skype/Ventrilo. The Out-of-Character portion of the interview allows us, as the recruiters, to know the quality of who we are bringing into the guild and to determine whether a character is truly fit for the guild - but also so that the recruit can decide for themselves if they feel the Golden Law -is- the best guild for them.
Secondly, after passing the Out-of-Character interview with an Order of the Golden Law recruiter, each individual is asked to spend two weeks (on average) with the guild through RP, OOC interaction, activity on the website and in Skype/Ventrilo so that the recruit can get a real feel for what its like to be a part of the Order.
These two weeks allow the recruiter, and other guild members, to experience the roleplay skills of the recruit. Grammar, punctuation and writing experience are observed, as well as how the player interacts not just with guild members, but with out of guild members.
During the first week out of Guild - recruits are asked, to /join a guild recruitment channel, and to place 'Trial of the Golden Law' in the title bar of their Roleplay Profile in game. During the second week - they are welcomed into the guild out of character until they have completed their trial.
Following being recruited, each new recruit is given their In-Character Uniform by their recruiter and welcome into the Order in an initiation ceremony.
Events & Activity Edit
Most story lines focus around larger campaigns, built upon smaller events and plots. It is not uncommon for most events to reach upwards of 60-80 people, and often stretch anywhere from 40 minutes to 6 or 7 hours, depending upon the date and start time.
The campaigns are broad strokes, filled in with small developments and character progression that stretches out over months. The Siege of Stromgarde - the first truly 'large' event hosted by the Order, was composed of a week long siege boasting 40+ roleplayers - and has set the standard for Roleplaying events for the guild. On the larger campaigns, such as the Siege, roleplay is constant, including small events like shoring up fortifications, gathering supplies, scouting missions and search and rescue - while the large events are the big time sieges and battles - drawing resources from all aspects of the guild, such as cavalry, shield walls, airborne units and siege/ranged formations. With the addition of allied forces at most events, even the most basic combat turns into an unforgettable event.
Most stories, on a semi-regular basis, will consist of a single "Dungeon Master" hosting the event and assisting in visualization of the scenario around each player and their ultimate end goal.
Most weeks find smaller events, such as training, sparing, sermons, lectures, lessons and a new 'do it yourself' events called Quests which are mini-dungeon mastered events, fully prepared, that can be tapped on the website.
The most notable event hosted by the Golden Law is the Court of Honor, a ceremony in which honors, promotions and awards are presented, as well as the initiation of new members. This event is hosted once a month in Hearthglen. Allies are often present at the ceremony, and several have been honored with commendations for their actions.
