Biography[]

Rise of the Horde[]

At her father's urging, Griselda was one of the first orc children to be aged to adulthood by the Drain Life ritual, alongside her brothers Dal'rend and Maim.[2] Like her brothers, Griselda had been trained to fight, but she was not a natural the way her brothers were.[3] Blackhand forbade her from drinking the blood of Mannoroth, intending to shame her.[4]

First War[]

Griselda accompanied the Horde to Azeroth during the First War. During the war, she ran off with the renegade Turok and his band of ogres and hid with them in the Deadmines, thereby betraying the Horde and disobeying her father's commands. Blackhand was displeased by this and sent his forces to the Deadmines, where they killed all Turok's rebels, including Griselda.[5]

Warcraft I - Troll

What may be art for Griselda Blackhand, later labeled as an early troll

The "Creatures of the Land" chapter of the Warcraft: Orcs & Humans manual includes an unlabeled piece of artwork of a female creature that was likely intended to be Griselda, as she is the only unit in the game that comes even remotely close to matching the depicted being's appearance.

However, Griselda's appearance does not exactly line up with this artwork, her portrait looking very different than the face of the figure depicted in the artwork, and Blizzard later labeled the artwork as a picture of a troll on the official World of Warcraft website (though no trolls appear in Warcraft I).
