The Grimtotem Spirit Guide a mob introduced in Patch 2.3. It is summoned by Grimtotem Spirit-Shifters in Dustwallow Marsh. They are visually unique in that they are the only tamable Ghost Wolves.
They despawn 7.5 seconds after they appear, so it's very hard to tame, since taming lasts 20.0 seconds. You can get some special items to make taming take less time. See this guide or this guide to help you tame one.
The bizarre appearance of the wolf, in addition to its unusual taming method, has made some people suspicious that the Grimtotem Spirit Guide was not intended to be tamed and would be removed as a potential pet. However, a post from a Blizzard Poster, Issuntril, confirms that Grimtotem Spirit Guides will be left tamable. [1]
