This article contains lore taken from Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, the manuals, and/or official bonus maps.

Emissaries were members of the Alliance that were sent in representation of a high rank commander or king. At least three of them appeared in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.

Dissension[]

Main article: Alliance Emissary

Upon arriving in the Alliance base in Northrend, the Alliance Emissary was greeted by Captain Luc Valonforth who informed him that the prince was away on a mission and would return shortly. Alliance Emissary was sent by King Terenas Menethil II to have his son Prince Arthas Menethil come back to Lordaeron with his forces and to have them give up the hunt for the dreadlord Mal'Ganis, after Lord Uther persuaded the king to do this. The captain then ordered his forces to begin to cut the trees to get to the ships.

In World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, this emissary is revealed to be a high elf.

Into the Realm Eternal[]

Arthas begins his conquest of Quel'Thalas by ordering the undead minions to capture a local in the woodlands surrounding the outer elfgate. Arthas interrogates his prisoner concerning entry to the inner kingdom. The stubborn high elf insists that the "fallen prince" will not be able to enter their land, citing that not only their gates will protect their capital, but the enchanted forests as well.

Said prisoner is labeled as "priest" in the cutscene, but uses the emissary model.

A Dark Covenant[]

After Kael'thas repaired three observatories, Lord Garithos took his forces to battle the Scourge and left Kael awaiting orders. The next day, an emissary arrived bringing news from Grand Marshal Garithos. The message said that the observatories Kael had repaired detected a large undead force led by Dalvengyr, and that he had to crush them before they could march on Dalaran. Kael was too confident that his forces would defeat Dalvengyr easily, unfortunately, Lord Garithos also ordered all foot soldiers, cavalry, and support teams to meet him in the front lines, leaving only the blood elves. Kael demanded the actions of Lord Garithos, but the emissary just replied that Garithos had great confidence in Kael's "abilities" and wished him luck saying "be creative".

To Tame a Land[]

During The Founding of Durotar, Thrall received a letter from the human leader to meet in Razor Hill. Rexxar was informed and suspected a trap, so he went in the place of Thrall, yet when he arrived he did not meet the human leader and instead found an emissary. The emissary was surprised to see a half-ogre instead of the orc Warchief. He revealed to Rexxar that he wanted to kill the warchief but would settle with killing Rexxar. As Rexxar suspected, it was an ambush from Kul Tiras, but he had brought with him Misha, Rokhan, and Chen Stormstout. They fought back and killed the humans. With his last strength, the emissary told Rexxar that it was only the beginning of a greater invasion, dying moments later.

Notes[]

  • Though their stats are not seen in the campaigns in the World Editor, they have the same abilities and almost the same stats of a priest (just some small variations).
  • All encountered emissaries seem to be different persons. The three of them have different voice actors.
