Durak family tree

Family tree.

Ga'nar was the son of Geyah and Garad and the middle brother of Fenris and Durotan, making him Thrall's uncle.[2]

Long before the opening of the Dark Portal, Ga'nar would hunt clefthoof along with the other members of his clan. One time, his mother Geyah was bitten by a drift lurker, which caused her to enter a coma. While his brother Durotan didn't want to leave her, Ga'nar was in favor of letting her die a natural death. Without coming to a compromise, he left both of them to die in the snow.[3]

A decade before the opening of the Dark Portal, Ga'nar and Durotan acted as Garad's lieutenants of the Frostwolf and Whiteclaw army in the Battle of Bladespire in Frostfire Ridge. Ga'nar sacrificed himself while helping many young mok'nathal escape from Bladespire Hold. His death broke Garad's heart.[4]

Trivia[]

  • In the alternate Draenor, Frostwolf warriors say that Garad and Ga'nar fought against the Laughing Skull Orcs in the past.[5] This probably happened in the main universe Draenor as well.
  • Although he is the older brother of Durotan, Durotan became chieftain of the clan instead of him when Garad died. The reason for this is that Garad chose Durotan because Ga'nar was hot-headed.[6] In the main universe, he died prior Garad's death.
  • Ga'nar was a last-minute addition to the Ultimate Visual Guide.[7] He appeared there before properly debuting (as his alternate universe self) in Warlords of Draenor.
