Hello all. I was wondering what the current take on the role of WoWWiki is. What exactly is the purpose of this website? I understand we're trying to keep this a collection of everything WoW, but how are the pages supposed to be formatted... Should they contain only the most recent information? Should they contain intermixed information from various patches? Should they contain information as it relates to the content on a per-patch basis? For instance, I decided to Be bold and clean up the Hunter quests page, removing quests that don't exist in the game anymore, as opposed to keeping them with some kind of disclaimer. I figured that a better page for that information would be some sort of 'quest history' page.
What's the take here?
- Because you can see some old version of the page in the history, we want the most recent information, if possible. However, if something like a boss, instance, or zone has changed dramatically, we tend to keep an old version around and call it "Something (old)" or "Something (BC)", etc. A summary of patch changes should be maintained in a "Patch changes" or "Patch changes and hotfixes" section if possible.
- You can also strikethrough (
<s>Removed or old thing</s>) removed stuff, if you want, but only if the new thing is mentioned as well. -- (talk · contr) 25 Nov 2012 9:05 PM Pacific
