Hi! So, first post here, let's see if it works. Please be indulgent with my possibly insufficient english :)
I recently developed an interest in Sylvanas Windrunner and thereby the general history of the High Elves. I've read my way through many wikis and continually finds the topic interesting, but not long ago, I started to wonder about the age of High Elves. Here, I came across a "problem":
At the High Elves and Life Spans wiki, High Elves is said to live around 260-390 years, becoming adults at the age of 110 and with an absolute limit around 2,000 years of age.
At the Timeline (both unofficial and official (2007)), the book The Well of Eternity in the trilogy The War of the Ancients by Richard A. Knaak is considered a reliable source.
It so is, that Alleria, Vereesa and Sylvanas Windrunner is mentioned in The Well of Eternity. The Well of Eternity is said to evovle around -10,250. But it is also well known, that Sylvanas Windrunner was killed (and brought back to life as a banshee) by Arthas. Considering the unofficial timeline, this happened around year 25, when the Scourge swept through Quel'Thalas. This would mean that, when Sylvanas Windrunner was killed, she was more than 10,000 years old. And furthermore, both Vereesa and probably Alleria too is still alive (again considering the unofficial timeline, the Cataclysm takes place around year 39).
So, is the trilogy by Richard A. Knaak to be considered unreliable? Do you know about any other considered High Elven life spans? What do you think?
- I think you're getting your elves mixed up. I don't think any of the Windrunner family appear in the War of the Ancients Trilogy during the actual time of the War of the Ancients. Vereesa Windrunner is mentioned as the wife of Rhonin, but in the near present day and she does not travel back in time with Rhonin. The first mention of any of the Windrunner sisters is around the time of the Second War, which is only around year 6 of the various timelines. -- (talk · contr) 7 Feb 2011 12:07 PM Pacific
Thank you for your answer. Yes, I see. I suppose it was rather stupid of me to not read Rhonin's wiki, since he is one of the main characters in War Of The Ancients. His wiki does indeed say that he travelled 10,000 years back in time, which pretty much solves my "problem". I have had the pleasure of reading The Well of Eternity, but it was a long time ago, and since I read it in english, a few points might have gone missing. Again, thank you for your answer.
